Is it possible to have a balanced FPL team with Hazard and Aguero?
Fantasy Premier League 2015 has been back for a matter of days and we are already scratching our heads trying to find the right team with the right balance and keeping it all within the £100m budget. With the increase in key player prices we are asking the question:
Is it possible to have a balanced team with Aguero and Hazard in your FPL team?
Spending (or investing as some might say) almost a quarter of your budget on two players out of fifteen will of course have a significant impact on what you can spend on the rest of the team – but does that mean you can’t have a decent balance to your squad? We have already looked at some of the bargain basement players that you could pick up on the cheap to fill the squad – but many managers are complaining that they are struggling to get the quality they need/want in their expected starting 11. Are we just being greedy? Perhaps. But this type of headache is exactly why we love fantasy football!
Brand new for 2015, Fantasy Football Tips in association with FPL_TheSource will be debating our joint team here on the website, on twitter and on our weekly podcast (which will also be available on YouTube as well as the usual mp3 download).
Although it is early in pre-season and there will be a lot of changes made to this team – an early selection that included Aguero and Hazard looked like this:
There is a central core of quality in there with the likes of Courtois, Clyne, Depay (as yet untested in the EPL), Giroud, Cazorla and of course Aguero and Hazard – 7 out of 11 isn’t bad we suppose! However, the defence looks very weak – with little strength in depth. The subs incidentally were Collocini, Wanyama and Yoshida (all costing the minimum £4.5m). Berhanino offerd good value at £6.5m although we preferred Danny Ings but could not afford the extra £1m. Giroud offered the best value at £9m in terms of proven goal scoring records but it makes the team very top heavy.
Who is needed in my FPL team???
There are so many players that still need to be in this team – Alexis Sanchez, a Chelsea defender, an Arsenal defender, David Silva, Diego Costa… and I could go on.
The point is, if you need Aguero and Hazard in your team then you are going to have to make a choice – play a 4-4-2 and buy a cheap 3rd striker at around £5m (and perhaps Ings instead of Giroud) and then you can invest in the likes of Fabregas and Sanchez or go top heavy and choose one other top quality midfielder to go alongside Hazard followed by 3 low value players.
The is only one thing that is certain right now – and that is that there will be in excess of 100 free transfers before the seasons starts for the FPL_TheSource fantasy premier league team.
