Fantasy Football Captain Tips Gameweek 22
Fantasy Football Gameweek 22 Captain Tips
With the January transfer window well underway there are some new faces to be added this week along with some old faces looking to bed in with their new teams. The return of Jermain Defoe at Sunderland and the transfer of Wilfried Bony to Man City are the two notable transfers this week and of course there are still question marks over the future of Radamel Falcao as a Manchester United Player.
The outgoing transfer of Bony from Swansea will give many Fantasy Premier League managers the green light to bring in Bafetimbi Gomis as we highlighted in our Gameweek 22 Tips article, although more will probably go for Bony at Man City. We still have concerns over him having a regular starting place so we will steer away from the £28m signing, even when he returns from the Africa Cup of Nations.
Top Captain Picks for Gameweek 22:
There has been some debate on twitter this week as to whether Man City’s home game against Arsenal this week will be easy or tough. Given the thrashing that City dealt to Wenger’s men last season it is easy to see why many are predicting an easy City victory, but they are hardly convincing at the moment and Aguero is far from fully fit and we doubt he will last longer than 60 minutes even if he starts. For us, he is not a captain candidate this week and possibly not even a squad player yet…
Check out our thoughts on when to bring Aguero back here.
Wayne Rooney: QPR Vs. Man Utd
With major doubt cast over Falcao’s future following a bust up with LVG and an ankle injury sustained by RVP which has left FPL giving him a 25% chance of playing, it is likely that Rooney will resume an attacking role against a weak QPR defence.
Rooney has been far from consistent this season, but this game looks set up for a big display from the Manchester United skipper. We prefer to act on form rather than instinct, but our instinct here tells us that Rooney could be in for a good game.
Harry Kane: Spurs Vs. Sunderland
With 6 goals in the last 6 games Harry Kane is a prime candidate for captain playing at home against Sunderland this week. This is the same Sunderland side that were hammered 8-0 not so long back, and although we don’t anticipate a repeat of that score line there will be chances for the Spurs man who always seems to be in the right place at the right time.
The only negative of choosing Kane as captain is that he will be a popular choice and therefor the differential potential will be weak.
Andy Carroll: West Ham Vs. Hull City
If you are looking for the differential points then Andy Carroll could be the man to look to with Diafra Sakho being injured the ex Liverpool and Newcastle star could be set to deliver. He scored a goal last week and reaped all 3 bonus points and he takes on a Hull City side devoid of any kind of confidence.
Big Sam will have highlighted this game as a must win match as he looks to cement a high league position following a tough run of fixtures.
