FPL Game Week 7 Picks

Sponsored by Premier Punt

Many experienced FPL managers are still blaming a mix of bad luck, injuries and down right weird and unexpected results as the reason for their bad start to the 2015/16 season but the best ones also know that in the long run, by sticking with the quality players in their teams they will be there or thereabouts come the business end of the season. After all, we have only had 6 game weeks so far!

Although it is very true that you need to keep faith with the likes of Sergio Aguero and co it is also true that every season throws up a new hero (last season being Harry Kane of course) and the question right now is who is that FPL hero going to be and do you already have him in your team? The early suspects for such a title are of course Mahrez, Payet, Callum Wilson, Ighalo and Manchester United new boy Martial. Any of those players could easily go on a four or five game run without an assist or goal and then suddenly they wouldn’t be talked about – so who has the best potential for longevity and do any of them make our game week 7 tips?

Game Week 7 Tips – Who do you need in your team?

It seems that the majority of FPL managers (half a million to be precise) feel that Martial is an imperative purchase for game week 7 – you can read our Anthony Martial article for our thoughts on that, but on the face of it game week 7 could be massive for him!

Riyad Mahrez – Vs. Arsenal

Leicester take on Arsenal fresh from their North London Derby triumph in midweek and with Leicester defeating West Ham in extra time on Tuesday both teams come into this game with some level of form. Leicester are the only team undefeated in the league and the real positive for them this season has been their goal scoring form, most of which has come from their talismanic Algerian midfielder. Arsenal will score in this game and if ever you wanted to bet on both teams to score then this would probably be the one. If you don’t have Mahrez in your team then you have to put him in… it really is as simple as that as he is probably the player who has the biggest chance of being ‘the Harry Kane’ of 2015/16.

Eden Hazard – Vs. Newcastle

Chelsea are back to form with their win over Arsenal last week and of course their walk in the park against Walsall on Wednesday. Eden Hazard had a slice of fortune with his goal last weekend and that could be enough to kick start his season and with him taking on a Newcastle side who just seem to collapse in every game he could restore some FPL normality to the season this weekend. With Costa being suspended there will be more expected from the midfielders and Pedro is the other obvious choice, however he very rarely completes 90 minutes so we would prefer Hazard who tends to see games out.

Johnny Evans – Vs. Everton

At £4.8m any West Brom defender is a steal at the moment as they are just churning out clean sheets. Evans gained 2 bonus points in last week’s derby game with Villa and they go back to The Hawthornes this week to take on an Everton side who were wasteful in front of goal last weekend against Swansea. Evans will be playing in every game for The Baggies this season following his move from Old Trafford and he is a snip at this price!

Juan Mata – Vs. Sunderland

The only black mark over Mata at the start of the season was the lack of surety over his starting place in the United team, but he has been instrumental to their game this season and he has pretty much secured his starting place. Taking on Sunderland this weekend he will be pulling the strings and we expect him to get at least an assist this weekend plus a bonus clean sheet point.

We will be back tomorrow with our game week 7 captain picks so make sure you check back then. If you haven’t already listened to this week’s podcast then you can do that here and if you like what you are reading we would be chuffed if you would vote for us in the FBA’s.
