Fantasy Premier League Gameweek 13 Captain Choice
Who to pick as gameweek 13 captain?
It is that time of the gameweek when we turn our attention to the biggest decision of the week, and it’s not “should I go and risk my life at the supermarket on Black Friday?”
Of course, the burning question is:
Who should I pick as FPL captain for Gameweek 13?
Let’s take a look at the key candidates and what we can expect from them in FPL GW13…
Alexis Sanchez £11m – West Brom vs. Arsenal
Alexis Sanchez is in inspired form for Arsenal at the moment and despite his low score in gameweek 12 he scored again in midweek in the Champions League and accumulated a total of 54 points in Fantasy Premier League in just 4 matches prior to the game against Manchester United.
This week, Sanchez faces a West Brom side that has not looked all that convincing at the back and although Arsenal had a tough game in midweek, they have more than enough attacking guile to score a couple of goals – expect Sanchez to be at the heart of everything good that Arsenal do. He is different class, and if you have him in your team he just has to be your FPL captain this week.
Angel Di Maria £10m – Man Utd vs. Hull City
If you don’t have Alexis Sanchez in your Barclays Fantasy Football team then there is a good chance that you have the Argentine winger, Angel Di Maria. Manchester United will be fresh for this encounter against an average Hull City side. Expect a spirited performance from the away side as Steve Bruce tries to foil his previous employer, but the attacking threat that United pose will take its toll for sure.
Angel Di Maria is the key man for assists and he came very close to sealing an impressive scoreline against Arsenal last week. If you don’t have Sanchez then captain Di Maria this week – if you have both then it will be a close call… for me Sanchez just shades it this week.
Sergio Aguero £12.7m – Southampton vs. Man City
Sergio Aguero could almost have a weekly pre-written article as a captain choice, but the reason for this is his level of consistency. Aguero did not score in the last EPL game and so it is highly likely that he will score this week. Why? The stats say so… Aguero has not gone two games without a goal all season and Southampton showed against Villa that they are not invincible – in fact, this game promises to be a cracker.
There is a little bit of an unknown quantity surrounding Southampton going in to this tough run of fixtures, I for one do not expect them to crumble as many are predicting, but I don’t see them keeping a clean sheet either in this one. If you are happy with a one goal return from your captain then Aguero would be a good pick this week – but I think Gameweek 13 has better captain choices.
Wildcard Captain Choice – Ricky Lambert £6.9m – Liverpool vs. Stoke City
This one may cause a few raised eyebrows but Ricky Lambert is a good proposition at just £6.9m with Balotelli and Sturridge both injured. Lambert has scored in both of his last two starts and will most likely start again this week against Stoke who have not looked the most secure at the back and head to Anfield on the back of a home defeat to Burnley.
If you like an element of risk in your Fantasy Premier League captain choice and want to look for the differential potential then Lambert is a good option with just 2.2% manager ownership.
Who we didn’t pick as FPL Captain and why:
Diego Costa as FPL Captain? – An away trip to Sunderland is not as easy as it sounds with the Black Cats finding some defensive solidity in recent games and Chelsea not having the best record against them in recent games. Having said that, if you don’t have any of the players above but have Costa, then you could do worse than pick him. Chelsea fired in the goals in midweek in the Champions League, but this is not their usual style in the Premier League so don’t expect goals galore in this game.
Good luck and let the fun of Gameweek 13 commence. We will be leaving comments here on Saturday as the goals fly in so make sure you join us.
