Fantasy Premier League Returns For 2016/17

Fantasy Premier League 2016/17 Now Live

It has felt like a long time coming but unless you have been avoiding social media today then you will not have been able to avoid the brilliant news that Fantasy Premier League is back for 2016/17 with the game launching earlier today sporting a slick new look and mobile optimised version to make managing your team on the go that bit easier.

As much as the long awaited launch was music to the ears of FPL fans, the reality is that we are still 4 weeks away from the kick off to the new Premier League season and so there is plenty of time to prepare – as you are here, you have made a great start in your pre-season preparation by getting access to the best fantasy football tips available.

If you are looking for specific tips for game week 1 then you might be waiting a while yet as we won’t be jumping in to that until around a week before the new season starts, but we will be looking at some more general FPL strategies as well as a number of tactics that you might want to consider when choosing your first draft teams.

Our first thoughts of FPL 2016/17

There is plenty to take in when you launch the new Fantasy Premier League website for the first time, but what really matters to most of us are the rules and the player prices. The rules are unchanged from last season and we still have the three chips (all out attack, bench boost and triple captain) as well as the two wildcards (one for each half of the season) – however when you start delving in to the player prices you might be in for a shock.

This looks set to be one of the most competitive FPL seasons going and it comes off the back of one of the most unpredictable seasons that we have seen in Premier League history. This season is likely to see a lower than usual Aguero ownership based on not so much his price (it stays at £13m) but at the prices of the players that you would want to surround him with. Players such as Payet (£9.5m), KDB (£10.5m), Mahrez (£9.5m) and Alli (£8.5m) all see their prices rising appropriately as per their form for last season.

So the quest for the new starlet of FPL is on. Will we get another Harry Kane, Charlie Austin, Jamie Vardy or Riyad Mahrez type cheapy like we have been blessed with in the last couple of seasons? Don’t forget Ighalo of last season too!

It promises to be a long season ahead and if you thought last season was tough, wait until you start putting your team together for the new campaign. Something has to give… will it be the defence, the subs or the real star pedigree players? We will have it all covered for you between now and the end of the season.
