Game Week 15 Tips
Game Week 15 Tips
In association with Premier Punt
37 goals in the Premier League last week and it is clear to see that most of the points landed in Fantasy Premier League came from goals scored rather than the clean sheet bonuses. Even Leighton Baines and Jonny Evans were back amongst the goals and those who had the likes of Alexis Sanchez and Harry Kane were rewarded for going with the obvious picks. Sanchez hauled an impressive 23 points in GW14 which is the highest single game week figure so far this season and he is head and shoulders above the rest of the FPL players for points so far this season.
With plenty of pointers to consider for our game week 15 tips there is one thing that is for sure – Sergio Aguero’s 4 game suspension means he will be dropped like a lead balloon this week so be sure to make your transfer out now if you haven’t already otherwise you will be suffering from his value falling more sharply than the post Brexit pound sterling. If you are wondering how to play the Aguero transfer then be sure to check out our emergency game week 15 transfer article.
Chelsea and Diego Costa in particular were mightily impressive at Man City and although the game was finely balanced at times it looks like it will take something big from the other teams to halt this fine run of form for the Blues. Chelsea face a West Brom side in GW15 that has found their own run of good form but this should be a walk in the park compared to City. Liverpool at home to West Ham is another standout fixture and with the Hammers getting a real hammering from Arsenal last week and Liverpool being outscored by Bournemouth, it will be a really tough game for Bilic’s side who find themselves under real pressure this week – if they defend like they did against the Gunners then they will be on the end of another hiding.
Game Week 15 Top Picks
Last week was a big week for Spurs, Chelsea, Arsenal and Crystal Palace too. This week all four of those teams have pretty decent fixtures – perhaps with Spurs having the toughest game of all at Old Trafford – but with it hardly being the intimidating fortress it once was, we can still see them getting a result.
Chelsea Vs. West Brom
As well as West Brom have played in recent weeks, they have come up against some pretty average opposition. Chelsea are anything but and we expect this to be a really difficult game for the Baggies who will completely change their approach to this fixture. Expect to see West Brom defend with 10 men for much of this game and Diego Costa and Eden Hazard continue to be the danger men. If you don’t have Diego Costa then you are shooting yourself in the foot – so stop messing around and get the Spaniard in your team. Forget the fifth booking – it will come at some point but in the mean time you are losing out on the best available striker in the Premier League. This is also a game for a defender – but it is only Chelsea players you should be considering – Marcos Alonso is our favourite pick with Victor Moses weighing in as a decent cheap midfield pick.
We have been banging on about Matty Phillips for weeks now and he has continued to provide the goals and the assists – this is a week to bench the WBA player though but keep him in your squad for next week’s game against Swansea.
Arsenal Vs. Stoke
This one couldn’t be more simple. Get Alexis in your team. Now you are dropping Aguero there is no excuse not to get him in – if it needs a minus 4 then do it.
Liverpool Vs. West Ham
This is promising to be a goal fest and don’t be surprised to see Andy Carroll return to Anfield to try and upset the party – and he may well return with a goal. However, Liverpool look to have far too much firepower for West Ham and Origi (short term), Lallana and Firmino look like players that you could benefit from. The biggest danger man without Coutinho though is Sadio Mane. He is off to the African Cup of Nations in January but is available for a few more weeks yet so if you want to benefit from this fixture he probably needs to be in your team.
Avoid defenders in this game as neither of these teams tend to play in low scoring games. A returning Matip for Liverpool should help their cause but it is still not likely to be a clean sheet sort of game.
Best of the rest
Jermain Defoe continued his scoring form last week and goes to Swansea this week who have conceded 9 goals in 2 games. That sort of defensive fragility must be making Defoe’s eyes light up and it would be a good week to have him in your side. Just be aware that Sunderland do have tough fixtures coming up in the next few games.
Christian Benteke is another who is a top shout for game week 15 and will be popular after his heroics last weekend. A trip to Hull for Palace awaits and Benteke and his team will be hoping for a win in this one. I’ll be surprised if he doesn’t bag at least one goal.
Leicester Vs. Man City is an interesting fixture now that Aguero is missing and it should be a City win every day of the week. Given that both teams have Champions League fixtures this week and that City have far more opportunity to call upon their squad – they could be in pole – but then with Leicester already having qualified, they could rest everyone if they wish. Expect goals in the game on Saturday tea-time but it is hard to pick anyone with any real faith from this fixture – KDB is the standout player but his rotation is too much of a risk – even with Aguero missing!
