FPL Gameweek 26 Captain Picks
Gameweek 26 Captain Picks
On the face of it gameweek looks like a great opportunity to bank some well needed points in what has been a tough month of fixtures in the world of Fantasy Premier League. With Arsenal making the short journey to Crystal Palace, Man City and Chelsea have winnable home fixtures against Newcastle and Burnley respectively. With Sergio Aguero rediscovering his scoring form and Diego Costa back from suspension, there is a lot to ponder over this week.
Gameweek 26 captain choice will be a tough conundrum to crack – that is for sure!
But before we look at who to pick for captain in gameweek 26 let’s remind ourselves of our non-Champions League players who we like this week. Take a look at them here.
Top Captain Picks for GW26:
Diego Costa: Chelsea Vs. Burnley
Costa has been chomping at the bit during what Chelsea deemed to be a harsh suspension but he returned in the Champions League and looks set to start for the Blues in a game that they will expect to win with ease. Of course, Hazard is a good alternative but one thing that you can guarantee with Costa is that he will be in and amongst the goals if Chelsea run riot.
He is the focal point of this strong Chelsea set up and at least 6 points is expected here with good potential for 10 or more.
Sergio Aguero: Man City Vs. Newcastle
Right this man off at your peril. Almost everyone in my mini league captained him against Hull and then almost everyone dropped him as captain against Stoke City. He came up trumps in that game and it would take a very brave person to shy away from captaincy here. City are not in the best of form but with the big guns returning they could win convincingly here. The fans will be demanding a big performance after what they witnessed in their last home game and expect and attacking game from City.
Harry Kane: Spurs Vs. West Ham
Whatever your personal opinion on Harry Kane, you cannot deny the goal scoring form he is in at the moment. For Kane read Midas – everything he touches seemingly turns to gold, or at least goals. A good captain choice in a much rejuvenated Spurs team. Kane’s FPL owners will be glad of the fact he only played 25 minutes in Europe on Thursday so he should be fresh and raring to go. West Ham have looked fairly decent at the back this season so he will need to take his chances like he has done all season. A good option, but Aguero and Costa are better captain picks for me.
Romelu Lukaku: Everton Vs. Leicester
A midweek hat-trick against Young Boys saw his FPL owners seething with desperation as they saw him deliver on what they know he is capable of. A home game against Leicester should represent a very good chance for him to continue in this vein of form and he does look like a confidence player. If he wants to secure a future big club move then he will need to be performing in these sorts of games. There will be a little more tension surrounding Goodison Park with a return to Premier League action but Lukaku as captain could be just the differential you need should the big guns flop!
Mesut Ozil: Cyrstal Palace Vs. Arsenal
With 32 points in his last 3 games Ozil has to be considered in your Fantasy Premier League team. He could be just the tonic you need if the rest of your team is looking like a bit of a flat brew and up against a Cyrstal Palace side who could be leaky at the back he looks like the Arsenal midfielder to be on. At just £9.1m he is a steal.
In summary, this is going to be a big week for many managers and my money would be on Aguero or Ozil to bag the most points. One of these two will be my captain for gameweek 26 – but I will make that decision at around 11.25am on Saturday!
