FPL Gameweek 37 Captain Picks
Gameweek 37 Captain Picks
As usual, the Gameweek 37 captain choice that you make will be crucial in dictating how good a week you have – and with a double gameweek for Arsenal and Sunderland the choice becomes even more difficult. Arsenal were defeated on home soil by Swansea on Monday and head to Old Trafford on Sunday, followed by a home assignment against Sunderland. Sunderland play Leicester at home at the weekend who are bang in from right now – so the big question is – do you captain a double gameweeker or not? If so – who do you captain?
The serious captain contenders:
Almost everyone who is still active in the game this week will choose an Arsenal player as captain. Arsenal have only scored 4 goals in their last 4 games (3 of which came in one game against Hull) so with an average of one goal per game do you really want to take those odds for your captain? Having said that, it will be a very ballsy manager who does not pick a double gameweek player – so let’s assess the players…
The French marksman enjoyed a rich vein of form not so long back, but his goals have dried up in recent weeks and he has now gone five Premier League games without a goal! The tide must turn at some point, but will that be before the end of the season. I generally only pick my captain based on form and this is something in which Giroud is sadly lacking right now – so for me, avoid Giroud as captain – although he is a decent pick for your team – read my Gameweek 37 Tips to find out why.
Sanchez has bagged 13 points and 15 points in 2 of his last 4 games. He has the ability to rip Sunderland to shreds at home and will be a key player for Arsenal against Manchester United. The recent form is good enough to warrant a captain pick – the only negative is that a lot of FPL managers will also be giving the armband to the Chilean superstar. He takes free kicks, the odd penalty (although he missed his last one) and plays all over the front line. He is the second highest midfield points scorer (second only to Eden Hazard) and is the most obvious pick for GW37.
Our most favoured FPL striker is in hot form right now and fresh off a hat-trick last week. Aguero scored 46 points last week if you captained him – and that is enough to beat most players over 2 games every single week. Man City take on a resilient Swansea side that beat Arsenal earlier in the week so it is a tougher assignment – we tipped him last week as our number one choice – this week he is not. Although he has potential for a goal or two, Man City have been poor away from the Etihad this season and I foresee another good Swansea performance here and a tough game for the former champions. If you need a gamble then Aguero is probably it, if it comes in then you will gain points on most of your rivals as he will not be a popular pick this week.
The best of the rest…
It is difficult to see past these players that we have suggested, however if you wanted to look at an alternative to these then I would suggest looking at Raheem Sterling against Crystal Palace, Bellerin at Arsenal, Jermaine Defoe at Sunderland and Benteke for Villa – but if you are brave enough to captain any of those – please let us know… you deserve for the gamble to pay off!
We have just added our top transfer tips for the last two weeks if you want to look long term... well medium term... okay it is short term but it is until the end of the season.
