FPL Stats – Ibrahimovic and Henrikh Mkhitaryan

Player Focus: Ibrahimovic

Manchester United have begun the major overhaul of their squad straight-away under the supreme guidance of Jose Mourinho. Their second and third signings are Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Henrikh Mkhitaryan. Zlatan has come on a free transfer and Henrikh comes from Borussia Dortmund. This article focuses on whether you should consider one, if not both of these players for your FPL sides based on their stats.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic:

There is a quote in one of the Zlatan Ibrahimovic videos on Youtube that I have been watching and it goes "I was born old and I will die young." Well if that is Zlatan's motto, he is definitely living up to expectations, in terms of his stats from last season. When you compare him, Henrikh Mkhitaryan, Marcus Rashford, Anthony Martial and Wayne Rooney, he outshines them all in front of goal. Ibrahimovic last season for PSG got a goal every 60 minutes on average compared to 89, 141, 165 and 167 minutes. It is a good thing that Jose Mourinho has got him in.

Zlatan will not just be with Manchester United to score goals, but also assist his new Manchester United teammates. Between scoring and assisting goals for him and his teammates last season, Zlatan comes in second position only to Barcelona forward Luis Suarez and ahead of Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo and Gonzalo Higuain on 51 goals/assists.

If all this isn't some indication as to whether you should at the very least consider Zlatan Ibrahimovic for your FPL side at the start of the season, then my friend, you may be doing FPL wrong.

Henrikh Mkhitaryan:

Henrikh Mkhitaryan is the top assister from all five of the top European Leagues from last season with 17 - ahead of Neymar, Mesut Ozil, Kevin de Bruyne and Angel Di Maria. This guy loves a goal too, between himself and Zlatan, they both scored 80+ goals last season for both their respective teams.

Henrikh Mkhitaryan is likely to play in one of two positions under Mourinho at Manchester United. He will either play the RM position and fight it out with Antonio Valencia for the starting spot. He could also play just behind the striker in the CAM role. Plenty of chance to score and assist from both of those positions for both him and his teammates.

One thing is for certain is that Manchester United are set for a very exciting season. Jose Mourinho will make sure that they are difficult to score against and with the signings that they have made, it could be a very exciting season up-top for Manchester United. Four strikers, Ibrahimovic, Martial, Rooney and Rashford, plenty of chance for FPL players to gain valuable FPL points for the red half of Manchester.

Needless to say, if you don't have Manchester United coverage in your FPL squad, well then you may just be playing FPL wrong.

The only problem is when you have the best player constantly rotated to your bench – every year MU break my heart. This year I say – no more ( I think).
