Fantasy Premier Team Selection – Our Best Team (so far)

So it is time for our second draft FPL team and we have deliberated long and hard over this one. The problem is that when you do so much research into which players to pick, and write articles on different strategies and which players to pick; inevitably you cannot pick every player you write about!

Of course, we feel a certain amount of pressure as we want to be the Champions of our own league, but as we give away most of our thoughts on how to win, we are at a serious disadvantage as anyone who gains a lead could pretty much block us week in week out, although there are hundreds of other teams to concern yourself with too. Before we delve in to our team – make sure you join our FPL League – the code is 57114-16422 and the winner will collect a cool £100 (or currency equivalent).

Our FPL Team Selection – Draft 2

fpl team with aguero

Our best fit team following the dropping of Aguero

The first big decision that we have taken is to drop Sergio Aguero. There are two reasons for this. Firstly, we didn’t feel that we could have a balance enough team with Aguero and Hazard in the team. Secondly, we don’t expect Aguero to be fit until mid to late August and so is likely to miss gameweek 1 and gameweek 2. Read why we are questioning Aguero’s fitness here.

After taking Aguero out, we have put Rooney in. Hearing LVG tell the striker that he will be playing his preferred position and then Rooney himself declare that he expects to score 20-30 goals this season was enough to sway us. Also, a £10.5m price tag means we only need to find £2.5m to bring Aguero back when needed (potentially at the expense of Hazard or Ritchie if we can facilitate the money).

This money has allowed us to really strengthen the midfield area, bringing in Depay for Man Utd instead of Coutinho and investing in Oliver Giroud to ensure we have enough Arsenal coverage (always cover your arse we say).

Yaya is our only major concern as he may be expected to take up a deeper role following the signing of Raheem Sterling at Man City, although he has looked in good form in pre-season.

We have opted for our cheap goal keeper and reserve keeper to allow us to save money and save headaches as we won’t need to deliberate over our keeper rotation and fixtures week in week out.

We will be discussing our team again on our third pre-season podcast next week where we may make one or two tweaks again so let us know your thoughts below and we will try and take it in to account during the podcast – you may even get a shout out. We do genuinely argue over players even during the podcast so you could help sway us if we come to stalemate – either that or there may be a punch up in the studio!
