Game Week 36 Captain Picks

A nice full lineup of games awaits us in the Premier League this weekend, and amongst them are some absolute crackers. Even with neither team challenging at the business end of the table, it's hard not to get excited for the Gunners' game to Manchester United on Sunday. Arsene Wenger, under increasing pressure, will be feeling absolutely desperate to take three points out of this one. Some nice easy home fixtures bring some other teams' top players into captain discussion, including Leicester (vs Watford), Chelsea (vs Middlesbrough) and City (vs Palace). All this combined made for one of the most crowded shortlists of the year and our committee of experts had a whole lot to ponder.

On that note, let's take a glance at our top 3 captain picks for this week.

GW36 Captain Pick No. 3: Eden Hazard

This pick was a straight shootout between Costa and Hazard for us and in the end, based on recent form we had to give Hazard the edge. Hazard has a goal or assist in 5 of his last 6 games, so even against solid teams he's almost guaranteeing at least a decent haul of fantasy points. This week he is not playing a decent team, but rather has a perfect late night home matchup against Middlesbrough. We find it very hard to imagine him not hitting double digits in fantasy points and you would not bet against him getting a goal and an assist. In a week like this with so many good captain options, Hazard is as good as any. Although he's not in our top 3, if you have none of our Captain picks then do consider Costa on the same criteria as above.

GW36 Captain Pick No. 2: Sergio Agüero

At the time of writing this, Agüero is 75% likely to play, so do keep an eye on his status - starting a captain that takes a late sit can absolutely destroy your fantasy week. As we predicted (the the exact number) Sergio got 12 points last week against Middlesbrough, including a goal and an assist. This week sees him against slightly tougher opposition but still in a good spot. We'd expect Agüero to follow up his 12 point week with another double digit performance at home to Crystal Palace and though we don't feel he's too likely to get another assist, he's certainly looking good to jam in a goal or two.
