FPL Week 37 Captain Picks
Game Week 37 Captain Picks
What an absolute mess of a fixture 'week' we have in FPL Week 37 as we see a ridiculous 16 games happening in 8 days. In some ways this makes picking a captain harder, but in some ways it makes it much easier. How does it make it easier? Well for a start we can immediately rule out any player that's not playing twice. It really doesn't matter how good a player is, or how he's performing, when this many top teams get two bites of the apple. How does it make it harder? Well for the top players that are playing twice, we have to balance two contrasting fixtures together and work out how they'll perform against their competition.
As it so happens there was a fair bit of symmetry in parts of this week, and it did make choosing a little easier than we thought when first looking at the fixture list. We do feel pretty confident in our top 3, and having those double headers also makes the chance of a total disaster slimmer. On the other hand, you need to watch out for your competition at this late point of the season - one big captain pick here can lead to an enormous points haul.
On that note, let's take a glance at our top 3 captain picks for this week.
GW37 Captain Pick No. 3: Diego Costa
Diego Costa has been hot and cold in recent weeks, but this double header against West Brom and Watford gives him some great scoring opportunities. Despite him bumpy form, it's worth baring in mind he has still scored 3 and assisted 1 one in his last 3 games, not bad by any standards. The beauty of this double header is he just needs to bang in a brace in one of those weeks to provide the value you're looking for, ad judging by recent form getting at least 3 goals/assists from these two games is a near certainty.
GW37 Captain Pick No. 2: Eden Hazard
Although he's only scored 9, 5 and 3 points respectively in his last 3 games, Hazard has a really juicy double header coming as he takes on both West Brom on Friday night and Watford at home on Monday. Obviously you'd like to see an extra day rest, but Hazard is in good fitness and shouldn't be struggling. It's ideal that the fixtures come this way round with the soft home fixture against Watford coming second up. Owners, and especially those that have put him as captain, will be somewhat disappointed in him recently, but generally speaking he has a high floor and high ceiling and these are ideal games to get back on track. Anything less than 20 points from these two games would be somewhat of a disappointment.
