Game Week 10 Captain Pick
Sponsored by Premier Punt
Last week we had an abundance of captain choices (most of which paid off to some extent whereas game week 10 provides perhaps one very obvious choice and then not a lot else after that. 9 mystic managers somehow decided to triple captain Quigliano’s podcast tip Wijnaldum and jumped on the 4 goal maestro last week – although even our resident podcast expert (with a god complex) didn’t expect the 4 goals from the Newcastle man – with a good run of fixtures for The Toon Army he might be featuring in a few more teams this week. Before we get in to the question of who to pick as captain for GW10 – it is worth reminding you about this week’s podcast. You can listen in the player below, download it or subscribe on iTunes.
GW10 Captain Picks:
Jamie Vardy: Leicester Vs. Crystal Palace
The Leicester forward has been prolific this season in front of goal and he didn’t disappoint last week with another two goals taking his season tally to 9 in 9 games. Not bad considering he only scored a handful of goals last season (all towards the end of the season).
Jamie Vardy has now reached a value of £7m and has an ownership of almost 40% which is the only downside to choosing him as captain this week – you have to think that most of that 40% of managers will give him the armband this week. But, he is the form goal scorer in the league this season and Leicester will see this match as a good chance of getting back to winning ways. The style of play that Ranieri has instilled is exhilarating to watch at times and FPL managers should be backing Vardy to score again in GW10 – The positive is that 60% of managers don’t have him and so can’t pick him as captain. He is our number one choice for this week.
Mesut Ozil – Arsenal Vs. Everton
Our podcast long shot of the week Mesut Ozil takes our second captain pick of the week in an Arsenal team that is sky high in terms of confidence and form. They have scored 8 goals in 3 games and when you consider that two of those teams have been Bayern Munich and Manchester United you can’t help but think The Gunners are on a mighty roll. With the injury to Aaron Ramsey and doubts over a potentially fatigued Alexis Sanchez, Mesut Ozil could take centre stage for Arsenal against Everton this Saturday evening. He has been quietly ticking away this season and sealed another good performance against Bayern Munich with a goal in stoppage time to seal a memorable victory and he could be the key to unlock a fragile and youthful looking Everton defence. There is a question mark over whether Theo Walcott or Giroud will start (otherwise they would be contenders) and if we could guarantee Sanchez starting the game then we would opt for him – but with the lingering doubt the German national player gets our vote. That is it for our captain picks this week as we cannot see anyone really outscoring the two players already mentioned. This does however look like a week for defenders with a lot of potential for clean sheets from the following teams in bold: Aston Villa Vs. Swansea Norwich Vs. West Brom Stoke Vs. Watford West Ham Vs. Chelsea Arsenal Vs. Everton Bournemouth Vs. Spurs Man Utd Vs. Man City Liverpool Vs.
