Game Week 10 Captain Tips
Game Week 10 Captain Picks
In association with Premier Punt
Last week was a tough pill to swallow for Fantasy Premier League managers up and down the land (made even worse by a poor GW8 for me) but with 2 out of 3 of our captain selections last week returning at least an assist we managed to do pretty well. Our punt on Philippe Coutinho was particularly astute as the Brazilian reminded us once again why he is so important to the revolution that is taking place on Merseyside – and we are talking the German reds rather than the Dutch blues.
Choosing our captain for game week 10 is no easy task – particularly as we have been repeatedly reminded that the big players are not safe from a blank.
Is it time to start thinking defenders maybe?
Let’s not get carried away!
We have three top captain tips for GW10 for you to ponder over so get your chops around these…
GW10 Captain Choice No.3: Romelu Lukaku
Everton have gone off the boil again of late but the one player for them who has been constantly simmering away is our good old faithful Romelu Lukaku. The Belgian has only failed to deliver less than 5 points once since game week 3 with him only failing to register a goal or an assist once in 6 games. He might not be the most exciting captain selection but with this level of consistency it is hard to ignore him.
Everton take on a West Ham side who have lost all but one of their matches away from home so far this season. By contrast, Everton are unbeaten at Goodison under Ronald Koeman and they will fancy their chances against a West Ham side that is devoid of confidence – they were lucky to beat hapless Sunderland last week!
If you want some differential in this game then Yannick Bolasie could be a very good shout with the Congolese attacking midfielder finding himself in decent form with a goal and an assist in his last two games. Only 5.5% of managers own the player that Everton paid £30m for but beware that Everton are about to embark on a tricky run of fixtures in their run up to Christmas.
GW10 Captain Choice No.2: Theo Walcott
As good as Middlesbrough were defensively last week at the Emirates, you have to say that Arsenal were poor and disappointed their fans and the FPL managers across the globe. Walcott was transferred in en masse last week and he was the one shining light in terms of performance last week with Whoscored.com giving him a player rating of 8.0 – bettered only by Petr Cech in the Arsenal team.
Wenger rested most of his first team for the visit of Reading on Tuesday night and they were duly dispatched 2-0 thanks to goals from Oxlade-Chamberlain. The Gunners travel up to Sunderland and the Stadium of Light for the early kick off on Saturday and it is perhaps worth giving Theo another chance. The last time this season that he got less than 4 points he went away to Hull in the following game to rattle in a goal and an assist – this could be a similar story.
Sunderland are fighting for their lives and whilst they don’t quite have the same level of backline leakiness that Hull have, the stats might tell a different story after the visit of a fluid Arsenal team that will be looking to go top of the league with a win in this game.
