FPL Game Week 12 Tips

Sponsored by Premier Punt

A mixed week for FPL managers last week with some of our old friends rewarding those of you who put your faith in them with the likes of Lukaku, Coutinho and Kane all picking up some good points. Riyad Mahrez was another star performer and repaid those managers who stuck with him following tests from the tinker man’s squad rotation policy and he duly obliged with 2 goals against what had previously been a solid West Brom defence. Manchester United gained another clean sheet but again failed to hit the target and anyone keeping faith in their attacking players must surely be questioning that tactic now. Despite a round of Champions League action to play, we are here once again to give our early tips for Game Week 12.

Game Week 12 Fixtures

There are a few standout fixtures this week and they mostly do not include the big boys of the league, partially due to form, partially due to Champions League action but mostly down to fixtures – Manchester City being the obvious exception.

Leicester Vs Watford

There is no getting away from Leicester’s amazing start to the season and those who called Mahrez a flash in the pan are now being made to look pretty stupid. Both he and Jamie Vardy are the best players in FPL right now and if we look at their all round game, both players find themselves in the top 10 players in the top 5 European leagues according to our friends at and Mahrez in particular finds himself with only Lionel Messi and Neymar ahead of him in terms of match ratings, gaining a massive average rating of 8.29 and 5 man of the match awards out of the 9 games he has started. No player in the top 5 European leagues has more MOM awards this season so far.

This game against Watford may represent a sterner test than you might have originally thought but the performance against West Brom really proved what Leicester are made of and to score 3 goals against a previously solid Tony Pulis side is no mean feat so more is to come here. Mahrez and Vardy are huge potential captain picks for GW12 this week too.

Sunderland Vs Southampton

We expected more from Sunderland last week and were made to look pretty stupid in saying so, particularly with Lukaku and Kone mopping up in a game that saw 8 goals! Southampton have looked really solid in recent weeks and Pelle continues to score so we fancy him to notch against the North East outfit this week. Sunderland may well show up so he is probably not a captain choice this week but he certainly has enough to give them a tough time. The Southampton defensive options are also plentiful and Stephen Davis represents good value at £4.8m after scoring another goal last weekend. If you need a cheap defender then look no further.

Liverpool Vs Crystal Palace

Liverpool looked like a good side against a Chelsea team that is a million miles away from what it was last season. That being said, Liverpool were made to play for their victory last week and looked in doing so. Benteke came on and scored for them and Coutinho was the class act for the Reds. They take on a Crystal Palace side that has not scored in the last 2 games so it may be time to opt for Nathaniel Clyne who is sure to get some assists in this more attacking Liverpool set up. Coutinho is always worth a mention but it could be the return of Benteke who lools rejuvenated under Klopp.

To Transfer or Not To Transfer

The big question this week for us is whether or not to use a transfer at all. Given that your team will hopefully be in good order we would argue for you to save your transfer this week and save it for after the international break. There are two reasons for this. One is to safeguard against potential injuries and the other is to have one eye on bringing Aguero back to your team. It is likely that most players will need at least 2 transfers to make the funds to bring him back so just bear this in mind.

We will be back on Wednesday with this week’s podcast and of course we will be back later this week with our captain picks – why not subscribe to our free email to make sure you don’t miss a thing.

    Hi Guys.

Cant figure out who to sub this week for my front 8.

    Team is as follows:

    Myhill (McCarthy)
van Dijk, Moreno, Kolarov (Naughton, Souaré)
Payet, De Bruyne, Sanchez, Mane, Wijnaldum
    Vardy, Lukaku (Ighalo)

Also am I strange in thinking of giving the arm band to Wijnaldum this week?
