Game Week 14 Captain Picks
Game Week 14 Captain Pick
Sponsored by Premier Punt
We don’t usually release our captain tips this early in the week but with so much talk around FPL managers wanting to beat the price rise on Aguero and/or Mesut Ozil, we thought it was probably right to release the article now. A little disclaimer here of course in case of injury – if you don’t have the player yet and don’t need to bring him in prior to Saturday morning then leave it until then as we will of course be emailing you (if you are a subscriber) with our definitive pick – but it doesn’t hurt to start thinking about this now.
There are some juicy fixtures in GW14 to look at and for our members we will be looking at our top 3 captain choices with one differential pick. Fear not, if you are not a member you will still be getting one of our captain choices for game week 14 right here.
Mesut Ozil – Norwich Vs. Arsenal
Ozil is one of our top picks for game week 14 and this is down to two reasons; the fixture and his form. To be honest, these are the only two factors that we should ever be taking into consideration when choosing our captain.
Having not scored less than 5 points in a game for the last 7 weeks and with 3 of those weeks being 10+, Ozil has to be a big player in GW14. He is currently the 4th highest points scorer in the game and is that bit fresher than Alexis Sanchez (although he did look scintillating in midweek in the Champions League) who could be rested for the trip to Carrow Road. Ozil’s seasons so far has centred around assists rather than goals, but with 11 assists in 12 games so far he has already topped his tally for the last 2 seasons.
The German midfielder looks like he is back to his Real Madrid best and has the best stats of all the Arsenal players right now. He also made it in to our top 3 must have players for the season in our members article this week – which you can read here.
A 3-0 win in midweek will give The Gunners a much needed lift and they head to Norwich in need of the 3 points to get their title challenge back on track. Norwich have lacked fire power in front of goal and lack the nouse that WBA showed last week to beat Arsenal 2-1. I fully expect a win to nil here for Arsenal which means an extra clean sheet point for Ozil to add to the 5 he already has – expect BPS too as he is instrumental in everything Arsenal do, usually having the most touches of any of their players.
