Game Week 15 Captain Picks

Most football fans love Christmas. Not because we love getting crushed in the hoards of angry shoppers or because we are desperate for a socially acceptable tipple of mulled wine in the middle of the day or because we are excited at the over indulgence of everything festive. No. We love it because it means there is plenty of Premier League football action taking place. Next week we are being treated to 3 lots of Premier League fixtures in the space of 8 days so you might want to be bear in mind that game week 15 is quickly followed by game week 16 on Tuesday.

With no podcast for the fans this week we will be having a special weekend podcast that will be focusing on game week 15 and 16. When it comes to the question of who to captain for GW15 there are plenty of options available – but just watch out for rotation – particularly with those players who played in Europe this week.

We have 3 top captain choices for you this week – but as usual, the number one pick will be reserved for our members only – last week we went with Harry Kane who returned far more than the ‘most captained’ Aguero so don’t miss out on this week’s pick.

Before we kick off, I just want to mention Manchester City who made wholesale changes in midweek for the visit of Celtic. They have been in impressive form away from home winning their last 3. They face Leicester who’s form looks pretty woeful and have just come off the back of a 5-0 hammering at Porto. Whilst Aguero may be missing – and we cover who to replace him with here incidentally – there is plenty of attacking talent on display for the sky blues and Iheanacho and KDB look to be two big danger men. Probably not a captain pick for gameweek 15 but a decent transfer option if you fancy a punt.

GW15 Captain Pick No.3: Sadio Mane

Liverpool were bitterly disappointed to lose to Bournemouth in a game that showed a bit of tactical naivety from Jurgen Klopp and his side last week. They will be desperate to make amends this week and I fully expect them to win big against a West Ham side that was ripped apart by Arsenal last time out. Despite defeat, Sadio Mane was in fine form last week and if he shakes off the knock he picked up then he will be amongst the attacking intent of this Liverpool side that loves to score goals.

Mane bagged 11 points last week and it could be more this weekend as Liverpool will need to lay down a marker again. Mane has made it in to the top 3 FPL midfielders for the first time this season with 81 total points now and that is highly likely to be added to this weekend.

GW15 Captain Pick No.2: Jermain Defoe

Jermain Defoe has scored half of Sunderland’s goals this season and as a player he is the one player in the Premier League whose side rely on him the most. Sunderland are starting to get results after their horrific start to the season and they face a Swansea side in GW15 that looks to be struggling. The Swans are conceding goals all over the place and David Moyes has the Premier League experience over Bob Bradley in this fixture.

If anyone is going to score in this game then it is Jermain Defoe and whilst he has only scored two goals in a game once this season, he has been very consistent with picking up assists too – basically – almost all Sunderland goals come through the ex-England man and would you back Swansea to keep a clean sheet here? No, I didn’t think so – Defoe is a top pick for game week 15.

What about Sanchez as captain GW 15?

As I said – there was a surprising omission – everyone will captain him this week and Stoke have conceded 3 in 7 games – I think there are better options this week.
