Game Week 16 Captain Picks
Game Week 16 Captain Tips
A quick turnaround this week as we enter game week 16 on Tuesday evening. After a tough game week for many last weekend (the average score being just 46) the fixtures make for pretty decent reading this week with some very tasty looking back to back home games in GW16 and 17. With the turnaround being so rapid we produced a podcast double header this week looking at both weeks in the one pod – be sure to catch it here or use the player on this page to play it whilst reading.
With the fixtures looking so tempting for gameweek 16 we are almost spoilt for choice in terms of captain picks – we are doing pretty well on our number one selections of late and last week’s pick of Diego Costa didn’t disappoint. Be sure to check out all three of our picks – remember the top pick will only appear if you are logged in as a member – so if you are not yet signed up you can do so here.
Game Week 16 Captain Pick No. 3: Kevin De Bruyne
It is almost shocking to think that KDB is a differential pick as captain in a home fixture against Watford but the way I justify this pick is that if Aguero was playing then the Argentine would be one of the most highly captained players in the game for this gameweek. As it is, Aguero is of course suspended and with the damaging defeat at Champions Leicester at the weekend, Pep Guardiola will be forced to play his strongest team here to get a result.
City are 7 points adrift of Chelsea as we head in to this midweek set of games and defeat here would almost certainly leave them 10 points off the pace so be sure that City will give this everything they have. Watford have been wildly inconsistent this season and don’t let their league position of 7th deceive you – they have conceded as many or more goals than anyone in the top 14 places in the league and they would hardly be described as solid – this should be an entertaining game and one in which Kevin De Bruyne will feature prominently.
Game Week 16 Captain Pick No. 2: Diego Costa
Costa has been one of our favourite picks over the last few weeks and much of this has been more down to his consistency than the fixtures in which he has played. This week he has the fixture to go with the form and this could be a game week to remember for Diego. He doesn’t score too many braces or hat-tricks but this could be a game in which he does just that.
Sunderland will need a response after a disappointing defeat at Swansea and this is hardly the game to help them off the foot of the table. It is very much top vs bottom in this game and the class divide of the Premier League should shine through. Make no mistake – Costa is a seriously top pick for game week 16.
