Game Week 17 Captain Pick
Game Week 17 Captain Picks
It’s fast and furious this week as we head towards the weekend and we are keeping the FPL tips coming with our Fantasy Premier League game week 17 captain tips. We all know how important the captain pick is, but this was highlighted more than ever in GW16 with managers who went for captain obvious being screwed over in many cases. With this week being the qualifying week for the cup, even the top ranked managers will find themselves dumped out of the cup before it has even started if they make a dodgy GW17 captain choice.
So, with the importance of this week’s pick being clearly evident (and of course you knew this already) let’s take a look at our top 3 picks – remember, as always you will need to be signed in to read our number one choice.
GW17 Captain Pick No.3: Kyle Walker
In a week when we hardly want to be taking risks we are giving you one of our most radical captain choices this season. No, it’s not Riyad Mahrez but the Spurs full back Kyle Walker. At £6.2m, if you don’t already own the England man then he is going to set you back a pretty penny – but then, we don’t throw around a defender captain pick very often so he could well be worth it.
Burnley have the worst away form in the league and have scored just one goal on the road all season. By contrast, Spurs have one of the best defensive records in the league and have looked very strong at home this season including a showing where they completely shut out Man City. Kyle Walker is an almost certain clean sheet waiting to happen which should provide you with a very healthy 12 points from your captain – add to this the potential for assists and Walker could be a top GW17 performer. It’s not the most exciting pick but when Costa and Kane returned just 4 points as captains last week – that 12 point banker looks pretty attractive doesn’t it!
GW17 Captain Pick No.2: Eden Hazard
The fickle nature of FPL managers has meant that as we head in to the weekend on a chilly Friday evening here in England, that Eden Hazard finds himself the most transferred out player of the week with just over 100,000 managers dropping the Belgian playmaker. Hazard has made a full recovery and will feature against Crystal Palace this weekend who themselves had a tough midweek game against Man Utd.
The fact that so many have dropped the Chelsea star gives an indication as to where peoples heads are with him – this indicates to me that he won’t be high on many manager’s captaincy radars and this means he offers greater than usual potential. Palace have been shipping goals for fun and Hazard is seemingly back to his best this season as he sits comfortably as the third best player in FPL as we head in to the final pre-Christmas Premier League fixtures. Of course, Costa will be a big contender for captain this week but if you are fancying the differential risk then this is a what they call in the stock market world – low risk/high reward.
