Game Week 17 Picks
Game Week 17 Tips
The midweek Fantasy Premier League fixtures were supposed to bring massive rewards for managers, but with some of the peripheral players claiming the majority of the points it was a challenging week for many. The likes of Eriksen, Pogba, Lallana and Fabregas are players that we know all about and their potential from an FPL perspective are clear to see – but GW16 was where this was realised and their backers were richly rewarded.
As we look to game week 17 it is worth remembering not to just make a transfer based on the back of one set of good results – after all – last week’s most transferred in player Wilfried Zaha scored just 2 points this week after his heroics the week before.
With GW17 being the week where you qualify for the FPL Cup you will need to ensure you are in the top 2,097,152 of players to have a place in the competition that kicks off in GW18.
Game Week 17 Hot Shots
If you haven’t yet checked out the podcast extra for GW16 and 17 then don’t miss out – the whole of the pod extra is dedicated to GW17 and it is worth a listen. I did tip Eriksen for GW16 on it so clearly we are doing something right.
I have three top FPL selections for you this week as we look to secure a place in the cup and continue strong month of December in the run up to the Christmas Premier League fixtures.
Spurs Vs Burnley
Harry Kane disappointed last week and although a home game against Burnley represents a more challenging game than the one against Hull City, there will be chances for Kane to make amends for his disappointing display in GW16. Christian Eriksen is the man with the assists and deserves a place in your team but last week was the time to fill up on Spurs players. A clean sheet for Spurs looks highly likely with Burnley unable to score on the road and Kyle Walker is highly effective of late but he does come at a premium.
Overall – Kane is the player who will outscore his team in terms of FPL points over the course of the season and as such represents your greatest chance of success from this game.
Crystal Palace Vs. Chelsea
Chelsea missed Eden Hazard for the trip to Sunderland and although that ended up being a tight affair, this game will be much easier from an attacking perspective for Chelsea. Those managers who transferred Zaha in in their droves last week look shortsighted as Chelsea have the meanest defence in the league at the moment – something that will probably prove true again this week.
Eden Hazard looks set to return to the team this weekend and Diego Costa and the Belgian will be looking to inflict maximum damage on Alan Pardew’s side at Selhurst Park.
Costa is the main man and represents a fine captain pick for gameweek 17 – with Hazard also likely to go well.
Everton Vs. Liverpool
A fiery display from Everton to overcome Arsenal and a blistering attacking performance from Liverpool to beat Middlesbrough sets this Merseyside derby up perfectly but it is still the Liverpool players that take the eye with Everton disappointing on too many occasions this season. Adam Lallana is becoming a must have player and will be the most transferred in player for this week. Firmino on the other hand looks to have lost his game since the introduction of Origi to the side and the loss of Coutinho has negatively impacted the Brazilian.
Mane is another top pick but you won’t get too many games out of him prior to his Africa Cup of Nations departure so Lallana could be the more astute pick. Expect goals in this fixture – Lallana has been consistently brilliant all season and I would not be surprised to see him flourish again in GW17.
