Game Week 19 Captain Picks
Game Week 19 Captain
Sponsored by Premier Punt
After a blockbuster GW18 that saw the start of the Fantasy Premier League Cup, our game week 19 captain tips come with just a few hours to go until kick off and with all the anticipation of a 6 year old on Christmas Eve. There are a whole host of potential captain choices for the final round of games in 2015 and most are ridden with doubts over fatigue and squad rotation so each of our picks this week will not just come as a top 3 but will also come with a potential risk rating (out of 10).
The All-Important Vice Captain
Most weeks we give little thought to our vice captain as we are usually 99% certain that our captain will play, but when two games are played in the space of 48 hours the vice captain becomes a crucial decision and one that needs to have a lot of thought. I was lucky last week with my personal team when Aguero (who I had captained as a bit of a long shot) did not feature at all and my vice captain stepped in – thankfully my vice captain was Kevin De Bruyne who scored one and assisted two goals.
Captain Pick No. 3: Sergio Aguero (Risk rating 3/10)
Recently returned from injury, Pellegrini upset a lot of Fantasy Premier League managers by leaving his star striker on the bench against a woeful Sunderland side whilst the other Man City stars reaped the rewards. The fact that he did not feature at all (but was warming the bench so clearly fit) was a big indicator that he will play in what would be considered a tough away fixture against Leicester City – hence a fairly low risk rating for this one.
Whilst the Foxes have been mightily impressive this season, the one thing they do lack is any kind of quality squad depth and their star striker Jamie Vardy may have to be rested against City. Leicester had a tough fixture on Boxing Day against Liverpool and this will be an ever sterner test for them. They will probably get a goal against Man City who will be missing Vincent Kompany once again, but I expect the Sky Blues to dominate this game and outscore their opponents as they look to take top spot in the Premier League.
I really cannot see Pellegrini leaving Aguero out of this match and although I don’t see him bagging a hatful (like he might have done against Leicester), I do see him getting on the score sheet.
