Game Week 19 Captain Picks
Game Week 19 Captain Tips
Hull and Everton kick off the last round of Premier League fixtures of 2016 in a cheeky little Friday night game that is bound to catch out a few Fantasy Premier League managers this weekend. With Ibrahimovic being last week’s most captained player (and also with his good points return) he may well be the choice (intended or not) of the majority of managers for game week 19. Our job this week is to assess whether or not Ibra is indeed the best captain choice for GW19 or if there are better alternatives. The good news is that there are plenty of options this week now that most suspensions have been served.
GW19 Captain Pick No. 3: Romelu Lukaku
Romelu Lukaku was a mainstay in many teams at the beginning of the season as he lit up the Premier League with a great run of scoring form. He had a dreadful baron patch which led to many managers dumping the Belgian forward but with 3 goals in his last 2 away games, an away trip to Hull City might be just the trick to get him back on another scoring run.
Hull have tried to sure things up defensively but were worn down by Man City in their last game and this could be a similar story in this game. Everton have been patchy in terms of their recent form but one thing that has been consistent of late is that they are continuing to score goals. Lukaku will want to finish 2016 on a high and we are backing him to score at least one in this game. The differential that Romelu offers should also be excellent this week despite being selected by over a quarter of FPL managers.
GW19 Captain Pick No. 2: Zlatan Ibrahimovic
There is absolutely no getting away from the fine form of Zlatan Ibrahimovic and he is proving his pedigree as a world class striker with the way he has adapted to the Premier League – a feat that is made all that more impressive by his ageing years. At 35 though, he looks as fresh as ever in this grueling Christmas and New Year busy fixture period and a home game against Middlesbrough will be seen as another opportunity to add to his impressive 2016 goal tally.
He has topped the Sky Sports Power Rankings for a successive second week and although that doesn’t necessarily translate in to Fantasy Premier League, there is no denying that his FPL points haulage has been impressive during that time with 38 points over the last 3 game weeks.
Middlesbrough should show a little more steel than Sunderland did and will perhaps be a little less naïve in the goals that were scored last weekend – but if anyone is going to fire for the United then it will be the mighty Zlatan. Don’t captain him at your peril!
As much as we fancy Zlatan to grab a goal this week, he might not be the best choice – to check out our number one pick then read below once signed in with your membership – remember if you are not signed up – sign up using the code NEWYEAR25 to bag a 25% discount on our membership.
