Game Week 21 Captain Picks
Game Week 21 Captain Picks
Technical issues with the podcast this week have meant that our return has had to be delayed until next week – and when I say technical issues I mean JP (who was set to feature) having life issues for which he will surely pay the price next week – so it adds a little bit more importance to the game week 21 captain tips article this week.
Now that all that cup action is out of the way we have more of an idea of what to expect this weekend with the standout teams for captain choices coming in the form of Arsenal, Man Utd, Chelsea, Spurs and Man City – so the usual suspects really. With so many points coming from midfielders this season there is plenty of justification in picking a midfielder as captain and although the risk of a 2 pointer is all the more than when choosing a striker – choosing well can pay dividends…. We assess our top 3 GW21 picks for you – with the top one being reserved for our members – so if you don’t see the top pick and you want it, be sure to sign up here.
GW21 Captain Pick No. 3: Zlatan Ibrahimovic
Zlatan has been a real leader in this United side that is enjoying its strongest run of Jose Mourinho’s tenure and a slight concern of illness should hopefully clear up before Sunday’s game. Ibra is a big game player and he won’t miss this for anything – worst case scenario he will be missing completely so if you do plump for the Swede then just make sure you have selected your vice captain well.
The yellow flag and the fixture will perhaps put off a large chunk of the 42% of owners from giving the United forward the armband but that could be a big mistake against this Liverpool defence that looked very wobbly against Southampton on Wednesday evening. They should be recalling Jordan Henderson who will give them some added stability but the form and player availability suggests to me that this will be a win for the home side and I expect Ibrahimovic to bag his14th Premier League goal of the season against his club’s most bitter rivals.
GW21 Captain Pick No. 2: Diego Costa
At £10.7m Diego Costa is still a bargain and despite his team’s slip up last week against Spurs he will be back up for it and looking to add to his goal tally in this game against last seasons champions. Costa has been pretty consistent all season and has failed to deliver a goal or an assist on very few occasions – and with Leicester having very inconsistent form it will be a tough game for the home team.
The response from Chelsea players directly after the Spurs game was one that showed few cracks and as long as this game does not stay goalless for too long then it could be a decent win for Conte’s men who will be looking to lay down another marker for their rivals. Dismiss Diego at your own cost!
