Game Week 22 Captain Picks
Game Week 22 Captain Picks
Sponsored by Premier Punt
The midweek action left many FPL managers disappointed, not least with their captain picks, but it did throw up some new (and old) potential captain picks with the likes of Firmino and Jermaine Defoe throwing their names firmly in to the mix. The potential of the Liverpool player is the most exciting as a midfielder playing in an attacking role, but it is the uncertainty of a starting place that will put most managers off picking him as captain. Olivier Giroud was the only striker in the top 5 to score a goal and sent a clear message with his 2 goals and also gives Arsene Wenger the excuse to not buy another striker – which he almost definitely wont do.
Game week 22 throws up some tempting fixtures from a captain pick perspective and with Liverpool and Man Utd both being involved in 3-3 draws in GW21 it gives some added spice to this fixture and the prospect of another game like that at Anfield is a very exciting one from an FPL point of view. Spurs look to bounce back from their disappointing home defeat to Leicester with another game at the Lane against Sunderland who themselves put in a majestic performance to beat Swansea, scoring 4 goals in the process! Is it a brave, clever or stupid man/woman that captains Jermaine Defoe in GW22?
Having given it much deliberation here are our game week 22 captain picks:
Captain Pick No. 3: Olivier Giroud – Stoke Vs. Arsenal
Giroud has now bagged 12 goals for the season and did so in difficult circumstances against a Liverpool side that was defensively depleted.
I tipped him last week and I am tipping him again this week. I expect this to be a footballing game rather than a ‘stick 10 men behind the ball and hoof it long’ kind of game and that could lead to another high scoring encounter. The game at Anfield showed the effect that an early goal can have on a game and if we get an early goal in this game at the Britannia Stadium then it could be a rewarding day for managers with Arsenal players.
Captain Pick No. 2: Sergio Aguero – Man City Vs. Crystal Palace
Sergio Aguero has not hit any real consistency since coming back from his injury but he is at least match fit now and this game against Crystal Palace will represent a real opportunity for him. Crystal Palace suffered a defeat to Aston Villa this week and that might knock their confidence and they conceded three goals to Chelsea’s less potent attack earlier this month meaning which gives plenty of hope for City fans in this one. Man City cannot avoid any slip ups after they were held to a 0-0 draw on Wednesday by Everton and because of this it is almost certain that Aguero will play – he doesn’t usually go 3 games without a goal so this could be a good week to back the Argentine striker.
If you want to check out our number one captain pick (it’s not Harry Kane by the way) then you will need to check out the members captain pick article here. This week we have picked a player who has never been suggested as captain by us before and someone who will not be picked by many managers this week – but he offers massive differential potential as captain in gameweek 22.
