Game Week 22 Captain Picks
Game Week 22 Captain Picks
So we thought we would try something a little different this week with our game week 22 captain tips and cast the vote out to you guys to take me on for the top captain pick. Check out the captain poll here. It seems that at the time of writing the armband from the fans is well and truly with Alexis Sanchez – who currently has 42% of the vote with Eden Hazard the second highest with 19%. We will keep the voting open but it seems like the right time of the week to release the captain picks – remember though, the number one selection is reserved for members so be sure to be logged in to read it if you cannot see it.
Game Week 22 Captain Pick No.3: Philippe Coutinho
It looks like the easiest fixture of the week goes to Liverpool but given that they had to play in midweek (albeit with 9 changes made from the Man Utd game) and the impact of missing Sadio Mane could mean that this will not be a stroll in the park. Coutinho was deemed fit enough to start for the Reds against Plymouth on Wednesday and as long as he comes through unscathed it can be taken as a solid indicator that he will be back in the starting line up at Anfield on Saturday in the early kick off.
Liverpool have undoubtedly missed the Brazilian’s creativity whilst he has ben injured and it could take a game like this to get him back to where he was prior to his injury. He was the key player for Liverpool at that point and although this is a bit of a punt, it is one that I like and one that could prove very rewarding. At £8.3m Coutinho represents excellent value for game week 22.
Game Week 22 Captain Pick No.2: Alexis Sanchez
I had to stick the Chilean superstar in this week – if not only because the masses have voted him in. However, I am staying true to my word and allowing you guys to select him as captain first – meaning that I will have to look elsewhere for my number one pick (I was going to choose someone else anyway so I’m not being that selfless).
Sanchez has been a top player in FPL over the last few seasons and this season he is really taking his consistency to a new level. As the top scoring Fantasy Premier League player (by some stretch) this season it is quite possible that we will see a new mantra – ‘always captain Sanchez’ – although it doesn’t quite have the same ring to it does it!
Arsenal are more than capable of picking apart this Burnley side but this is one of those games in which Wenger’s men have struggled with in the past. A couple of their recent performances have looked a little suspect and this might be an edgier encounter than it first appears. That being said, Sanchez has looked a cut above this season and whether or not GIroud plays (slight fitness concern), Sanchez will be a good solid captain choice – if you don’t like to take risks then this is your captain.
