Game Week 22 Tips
Game Week 22 Picks
Sponsored by Premier Punt
Midweek floodlight action threw up almost everything for us this week and whilst most of the managers involved at FFT had a pretty poor GW21, the podcast shout outs (#SideTips) did very well indeed and our Delia answered us with a goal and a clean sheet for the much discussed Joleon Lescott. Payet returned to top form as predicted and Firmino will give cause to be placed firmly on many a radar after his performance and of course Olivier Giroud continued to prove that this is the season in which he will score in the big games. Elsewhere, the regular hot-shots of the season drew many blanks with none of the top 4 FPL strikers managing a single goal between them.
It is time to look ahead to game week 22 and we don't need to peer too far as it starts in just 3 days time with Spurs and Sunderland kicking off the proceedings in the early Saturday game. Harry Kane let us down against Leicester, so perhaps he will be repaying some of the faith we put in him? It's time to make some bold predictions once again after a game week that proved just how hard our job really is...
Game Week 22 Top Picks
With such a short turnaround this week it might be one of those weeks where you are tempted to hold tight with your team and take advantage of a double FT the following week. With many players blanking in a low scoring GW21, lot's of managers will be making knee-jerk reaction style changes and it might just pay to stick as you are.
Today, we are going to look at the players that you might consider bringing in:
Marko Arnautovic - Stoke City Vs. Arsenal
Arsenal looked very good going forward against a high pressing Liverpool side but they were woeful defensively and Stoke are in top form and play a high temp game of their own. Arnautovic is the key man for Stoke (especially given the injury to Shaqiri) and if the Potters decide to play their own game rather than just trying to contain Arsenal then they could do some damage. Arsene Wenger will want to recoup some of the damage caused by a late Liverpool equaliser on Wednesday night but I think the Gunners may need three goals again to win this game!
Dimitri Payet - Newcastle Vs. West Ham
We said he was back and boy is he back, with a fantastic goal and an assist against Bournemouth on Tuesday, this game against Newcastle represents a very similar challenge. The £7.8m man is hard to fit in your team if you have the likes of Mahrez, Ozil, KDB/Silva and co but there should be room in there for him.
If you have a Ross Barkley/Wijnaldum type player in your team then I strongly urge you to swap them out for the Frenchman who has resumed the form he was in prior to his injury - pure class.
Ighalo - Swansea Vs. Watford
There is no denying that Watford for dreadful on Wednesday against Southampton and they created literally nothing up front BUT... Swansea are even worse! If you were predicting this game last week then you would have said Watford would win this game and I haven't seen enough from Swansea to convince me otherwise.
Watford should recover from their blip on Wednesday to run out winners when they visit South Wales and Odio Ighalo could well be the man to reap the rewards. Jamie Vardy is the other option instead of Ighalo right now and Leicester face Villa - but the England man didn't look quite right following his groin operation and Villa have tightened up a little of late so I will be backing the Watford man for game week 22.
We will be back on Thursday with our weekly FPL podcast and our captain picks will be out either Thursday or Friday so do keep checking back. We will also have some insightful members content for you before GW22 kicks off so look out for that in the members area.
