Game Week 23 Tips
Game Week 23 Tips
The FA Cup has taken over the weekend’s football action and leaves us looking forward to a midweek feast of Premier League action as we eagerly await game week 23. Early transfers should be avoided this week as there are some higher ownership players awaiting clearance to play as well as the likelihood of fresh injuries being picked up on Saturday and Sunday. That being said, it is never to early to start planning your Fantasy Premier League team preparation so we are on hand to take you through our game week 23 top tips.
Game Week 23 Picks
All but Chelsea and Arsenal stuttered last week with Liverpool suffering complete collapse at home to Swansea and it will have left many FPL managers reassessing the places of Liverpool players in their teams – unless you had Firmino that is! With Liverpool set to face Chelsea in GW23 it may be a shrewd move to cash in if you have doubled up on Liverpool attacking players. Man Utd are about to embark on a good run and Spurs have relatively easy back to back games coming up. The same cannot be said for Chelsea who (as previously stated) head to Anfield this weekend followed by a home fixture against Arsenal next week. Looking towards Man Utd and Spurs players might be a fruitful exercise over the next couple of games but beware game week 26 when those players will be blanking due to fixture congestion.
Arsenal Vs. Watford
Alexis Sanchez showed his class last week to snatch victory for Arsenal against a resolute Burnley side but this Watford side has nowhere near as much grit at the back and this should be a straightforward win for the North London side.
Olivier Giroud and Alexis remain the top threats and could well fire for the Gunners on Tuesday night. A clean sheet is also highly likely given Watford’s recent performances.
Sunderland Vs. Spurs
The teams down at the bottom seem to be off-loading and weakening their sides as opposed to strengthening them and this is a great time for Spurs to be travelling to the Stadium of Light. They fought back well at the Etihad last week and many see them as the only credible threat to Chelsea now this season. If Harry Kane is fit then he is almost a must pick player for game week 23. Dele Alli has been the goal getter from midfield and also demands a place in your team if you still don’t have him. Kane is likely to be a very popular captain choice this week.
Man Utd Vs. Hull
We have had the curtain raiser to this but this is main performance following the two league cup games. Expect a completely different game to the one at the KC Stadium last week and expect to see the likes of Ibrahimovic amongst the goals. A probable clean sheet is also in the offing with Phil Jones being the player of value to opt for.
Liverpool Vs. Chelsea
Earlier in the season and you would have given Liverpool a chance in this game but having not won a game in 2017 thus far it looks like January will close out on winless streak. Chelsea look ruthless and efficient if nothing else and Diego Costa is the man that just keeps them ticking over. It is hard to imagine that the Reds will keep a clean sheet in this one and it will require the likes of Lallana (late fitness test), Coutinho and Firmino to be at their best to break down this resolute Chelsea back line. I expect a tight one goal victory for Conte’s men in this game.
Middlesbrough Vs. West Brom
Another game that represents points potential for West Brom who are having a magnificent season thus far. Apart from getting turned over by Spurs two weeks ago, they have won every league game since New Year’s Eve and this will be another game in which West Brom will be expecting a win and potentially a clean sheet – with the latter being fairly probable. At least one West Brom defensive player (Nyom is best value) is surely a must for any successful and well balanced FPL side.
There is plenty more to ponder before the deadline and we will be back on Sunday with our gameweek 23 captain picks so be sure to check back then.
