Game Week 24 FPL Tips
Game Week 24 Tips: Our first thoughts
Sponsored by Premier Punt
Another game week down and a few more points in the bag after the most popular captain picks (excluding Lukaku) bagged a goal or two for many managers, but as we edge nearer towards the final third of the season I know I am getting a little bit antsy about my team and so I have hit the good old ‘activate wildcard’ button which has put me at ease momentarily - but that's enough about my own personal traumas.
We have a break next weekend as we see the FA Cup return for the second time in January (this time with the 4th round fixtures) and so we look ahead to the midweek fixtures set to take place on 2nd and 3rd February. The last time we had midweek fixtures was earlier this month when there was so much excitement and anticipation, only for most Fantasy Premier League managers to record some of their lowest scores. That won’t stop us getting just as excited for GW24 though and so to business…
Game Week 24 Picks:
Sunderland Vs. Man City is the first fixture that really stands out and of course Sergio Aguero will be hotly sought after for this fixture following the 4 goals he has scored in his last 2 outings, but if that is not enough to make you back Man City then we have a little more insight for you.
Man City have already played Sunderland twice this season, once at home in the league and once at the Stadium of Light in the League Cup. City rode out 4-1 winners on both occasions with Aguero scoring in the League Cup game (he was injured for the EPL game) and KDB and Raheem Sterling scoring in both fixtures. If we look back to the same fixture last season, city were 4-1 winners again with Aguero scoring two and assisting one in that game.
If you fancy a flutter on the 4-1 scoreline happening again then you can get 20/1 on that price and a £50 free bet with Ladbrokes here using promo code F50. Using your £50 free bet would net you a whopping £1000! Click here to grab this offer now.
These stats are pretty consistent and although City have been inconsistent on the road this season they have enough fire power to do damage to Big Sam’s backline in this important game. I have heard lots of managers on Twitter saying that they have had enough of KDB but it is worth sticking by him for this game as he seems to enjoy playing against the Black Cats. Sterling is a good differential pick but I do prefer the more reliable Kevin De Bruyne.
West Ham take on Aston Villa at Upton Park having performed admirably against Man City and it was Dimitri Payet who shone despite not getting on the scoresheet or getting an assist. He and Valencia (scored 2 against City) are top picks for GW24 and although Villa have looked much tighter of late they are likely to come unstuck against this excellent West Ham outfit. Villa are in desperate need of points and a draw is simply not enough so they will have to gamble here, with West Ham being astute enough to punish them dearly if the gamble doesn’t pay off.
Leicester and Liverpool scored 8 goals between them in GW23 and although it looks like Leicester have the better defence at the moment there could be a number of goals for both sides in this one. I tipped Roberto Firmino as captain last week and he duly obliged with 2 goals and an assist and I can see him bagging again this week.
Jamie Vardy return to the score sheet to bag his 16th Premier League goal of the campaign in a very impressive 3-0 win over an underperforming Stoke side and he can do some damage against this makeshift Liverpool defence. Leicester are out of the FA Cup so they have a rest this weekend and will be all the fresher for it, but I still wouldn’t like to predict a winner in this one – but if pushed I would say Leicester will edge a thrilling encounter. Forget Mahrez, stick with Vardy and put Firmino in your team as Klopp looks set to stick with the Brazilian up front for the time being.
Norwich face Spurs who showed real character and style to beat a good Crystal Palace side in GW23 with Harry Kane, Dele Alli and Christian Eriksen the players to impress. Steven Naismith got off to a good start for Norwich on his debut against Liverpool but this will be a tougher game for him so he might want to stay on the watch list for now. Norwich have conceded 11 goals in their last 3 games and this Spurs side have more than enough firepower to add pressure to their weak defence. Harry Kane should be in your team and Dele Alli is amost impossible to ignore after yet another stunning display last weekend.
