Game Week 25 Captain Tips
Game Week 25 Captain Picks
Sponsored by Premier Punt
With us hardly catching our breath after the midweek Premier League action it is time to look forward to our game week 25 captain choice. On paper this looks like one of the hardest weeks of the season to predict in terms of general tips and also in terms of captain choice so those of you with an inclination for betting on football might want to look elsewhere this weekend.
Manchester United travel to Stamford Bridge this weekend to take on Chelsea and with the former getting back to form it makes this an incredibly difficult game to predict – watch out though as a bore draw is probably the most likely outcome.
The top of the table clash between Man City and Leicester should be an exciting affair but with Leicester playing a more solid game at the back of late and with this game carrying massive importance, we could be in for a low scoring draw in this game too, particularly if we see a return for Vincent Kompany.
With plenty of fixtures pitting teams with good defences against teams with in form attackers it seems that something will have to give in most FPL teams and this could be a pretty low scoring week for many managers. Therefore the captain pick becomes all the more important if you can get on that one good performer this weekend.
Here are our top GW25 captain picks – (members have access to all three picks here)
Captain Pick No. 3: Alexis Sanchez
This is a bit of a punt this week and is based on the fixture rather than any recent form we have seen from Sanchez (although he did score in the FA Cup) but with Arsenal visiting Bournemouth it represents a fixture that could see them finally register a win after 3 draws and a loss in their last 4 Premier League games.
Sanchez represents more differential than his teammate Ozil (who is still cheaper than his Chilean comrade) and the two of them combined brilliantly against Southampton at times but just failed to break the deadlock.
Bournemouth are in good form and registered a well deserved win against Crystal Palace in the week. All eyes will be on Benik Afobe who has scored 3 in 3 games and faces the team he graduated from as a youngster and Bournemouth will be keen to make up for the 2-0 defeat they suffered at the Emirates earlier this season. Sanchez did not feature in that game when Ozil and Gabriel (who played in midweek and could feature again this weekend) scored but I fancy him as a good differential pick for gameweek 25.
Captain Pick No. 2: Sergio Aguero
Sergio Aguero is on a hot streak right now and he will be a very popular captain choice for GW25. City stuttered over the line with a narrow 1-0 win against Sunderland on Tuesday and although they are a different proposition at home they face a tough challenge in Leicester who have been defensively tight in recent weeks.
Aguero will probably score in this game so he represents a good captain choice, but I can’t see a whole raft of goals in this game for Man City as Leicester will be keen for any result that is not a defeat. They easily shut out Liverpool who had previously put 5 past Norwich City and will be keeping a close check on Aguero.
If you are running away at the top of your league then Ageuro is a perfectly solid pick, but if you are in the chasing pack then I would urge you to go for our first or third choice captain.
