A very low scoring GW27 that saw an average score of just 33 points proved just again why we love the Premier League quite so much. Despite such low scores for many FPL managers we were reminded of the rewards that can be made in the EPL for those of us who are prepared to take a gamble. I am of course referring to Man Utd prodigy Marcus Rashford who rewarded the 1% of managers that took note of his 2 goals on Thursday and capitalized on his £4.5m price tag to land a whopping 16 points against Arsenal consisting of 2 goals and an assist.

The Premier League title race has been blown wide open and Spurs will not be able to keep playing down their title ambitions as they stay within 2 points of Leicester and have a healthy 3 point gap back to 3rd placed Arsenal. A five goal thriller at the Hawthornes was another reminder of the unpredictable nature of the league and so we turn our attentions to carrying on with the hardest job in football – predicting the impossible… and so to our game week 28 tips.

Game Week 28 Top Tips

There are some tasty looking fixtures this week as Chelsea head to Norwich who almost broke the hearts of Leicester City fans at the weekend and Arsenal taking on Swansea who play their second game in North London in a week. Everton head to Aston Villa after their weekend break and will be looking for a repeat of the 4-0 win that they enjoyed at Goodison Park earlier this season. Liverpool take on Man City in a repeat of the League Cup final in a game at Anfield whilst Spurs make the short trip to West Ham in what will be a tough test to their title bid. Last week I tipped Arnautovic to do the business against Villa and also gave a shout out to Shaqiri and both of these players have a good chance to do well again against a Newcastle side that needs to bounce back from their 5-1 drubbing at the hand of Chelsea way back in GW26.

Game Week 28 Transfer Target

Big concerns over Diego Costa this week as Guus Hiddink has already stated that the Spaniard is unlikely to start in both games this week. With Chelsea also blanking in GW30 it is probably a good time to drop him which is shame as when he does play he will perform.

If you do have Costa or even Olivier Giroud (who did not start for Arsenal on Sunday) then the top target for gameweek 28 has to be Romelu Lukaku. Having dropped down to a very attractive price of £8.7m he remains the third best striker in Fantasy Premier League and travels to Villa Park to play a poor side that he scored 2 goals against earlier this season. The Belgian did score in 75 minutes of action last time out after recovering from a minor injury and should be fresh to play both games this week and have no such rotation concerns. Just be aware that Lukaku does have a blank coming up in GW30 so you don't want to fill up on Everton players but if you are prepared to carry him as a passenger for that week he is going to reward you with at least 2 double game weeks in the last few weeks of the season.

Our Other GW28 Picks

These are the fixtures and the players that we think you should have an eye on this week:

Bournemouth Vs. Southampton

A tough game at the weekend against Chelsea saw Forster and the Saints lose that streak of clean sheets but a new one could start away at Bournemouth on Tuesday. Forster and the cheaper Matt Targett are the top picks for this game and the latter should play after impressing consistently this season.

Leicester Vs. West Brom

We all thought it was going to be a demolition job by Leicester last weekend but it didn’t happen. Vardy did get the assist but I go back to what I said a few weeks ago. As Leicester get closer to the end of the season (and if they remain top) the more you will see a more edgy feel to their game. The free flowing counter attacking football is what they need but it is easier when a team attacks you. West Brom will be a similar proposition to Norwich but we saw at the weekend that West Brom can concede (and score plenty) – this is a tough game to predict and although you will want Vardy and co in your side, I wouldn’t be rushing to put them in this week.

Norwich Vs. Chelsea

The problem with Chelsea is that they have to put all their efforts in to the FA Cup and Champions League and so the league will play second fiddle for the remainder of this season. As we have said, Costa will be rested for one game at least and there is plenty of room for maneuver in their midfield too. That being said the potential that Willian brings is very tempting and a trip to Norwich represents an excellent chance of points this week. Defensively, I expect a Chelsea clean sheet here.

Arsenal Vs. Swansea

There is only one man to back at Arsenal right now in terms of attacking players and that is Mesut Ozil. He has been a colossal force this season and continues to dominate teams with another goal and assist at the weekend against Man Utd. I expect to see them keep it clean at the back and a win to nil should follow.

Man Utd Vs. Watford

Marcus Rashford has got Old Trafford buzzing again and although Martial could return for United could LVG really leave Rashford out after such a start to his career at Man Utd? I expect Rashford to start and he is certainly worth a punt at £4.5m – there will be plenty of players doing so and whilst he would certainly not be a GW28 captain pick he would be a great (and cheap) differential.

Stoke Vs. Newcastle

Stoke have looked much improved after wins over strugglers Bournemouth and Aston Villa and they face another side in the relegation zone this week when the take on Newcastle at the Britannia Stadium. Arnautovic looks like the in form player and with him taking on the penalty duties he is all the more valuable a player. The only concern is over his fitness and whether he is able to complete 3 games in a week – but I expect Stoke to win this at home.
