Game Week 35 Captain Tips
Game Week 35 Captain Picks
Sponsored by Premier Punt
With only 4 game weeks remaining the season is getting hotter than a Qatar Summer World Cup and we have certainly been on fire over the last few weeks with our captain picks. This has been in no small part down to the big players stepping up their games in recent weeks and with last week’s captain picks (Aguero, Sturridge and Sanchez) scoring a collective 9 goals between them we are feeling confident about our captain choice for game week 34.
Gameweek 35 has a only 12 teams playing which after the huge double game week treat and 6 consecutive days of Premier League football will feel like a poor excuse for a round of weekend fixtures. In some respects, the blanks for some teams makes the decision easier – for example, in our mini-league in GW34 we had some managers choosing players such as Martial with a triple captain and returning 9 points and others choosing the likes of Aguero and Sanchez who returned over 60 points each with the triple captain chip in use. It further highlights the difference between a good captain pick and a bad one (although I’m not sure why they didn’t follow our advice) and it’s crucial that we continue the good selection form this week.
We have 3 top picks for you again this week, with the number one captain pick being reserved for our premium members – you can sign up for as little as £12 per year here (and it lasts a full 12 months so you will beat any potential price rise for next season if you sign up today).
Game Week 35 Captain – Pick No. 3: Graziano Pelle
Four goals in five games is a decent return for any striker, but for one that looked like he had been frozen out earlier this season, Pelle will be glad of having had an extended run in the team and is reaping the rewards in terms of his goal tally of late. A trip to Aston Villa will be full of hope for Southampton and Pelle represents the best chance of a goal in this Saints team with Shane Long being more subject to rotation.
Any team facing Aston Villa has a chance and with no team having conceded more than the 65 goals that Villa have let in this season, I urge you to take advantage of this poor Villa side whilst you still can.
Pelle as captain is not for the faint hearted but he does represent an excellent differential pick should some of the other top players blank. Chasers take note – this could be a good chance to claw something back!
Game Week 35 Captain – Pick No. 2: Daniel Sturridge
There is no doubting Daniel Sturridge’s quality and he is the first player from this week’s selections who also featured last week. Despite not starting the game against Everton, he still managed to bag a goal and it should have been two based on his last touch but FPL decided not to award it to him. A home game against Newcastle represents an excellent chance for Liverpool to continue their excellent recent form although it won’t be as easy a game as the Merseyside derby with Newcastle fighting for their Premier League survival.
The injury to Origi means that Sturridge should be nailed on to start with Benteke still a doubt fitness wise and looking like he has been frozen out of Klopp’s plans. Liverpool look like a different team of late and the intensity of their game is clear to see and Sturridge looks like he is reaping the rewards.
If you don’t have our number one pick then Sturridge is a top option – if you want to check out our number one pick then you will have to read the members article here.
