Game Week 36 Captain Tips
Game Week 36 Captain Picks
Sponsored by Premier Punt
A standard game week awaits us this week in terms of numbers of fixtures so the captain pick will perhaps be a bit wider spread for many players than the captain picks of the double game weeks and the blanks. With more players to choose from, the captain choice for gameweek 36 is vital to a successful end to the month and there are a few solid options and some risky (but potentially highly rewarding) ones too.
This article will give you our top two picks for GW36 and our members article will contain an interesting differential pick so be sure to check that out too. There are a number of standout fixtures this week and out attentions will be firmly focused around Arsenal, Liverpool and Everton. That being said, players who look towards relegation threatened Sunderland and Newcastle could also be rewarded as the two teams need goals and more importantly points to avoid relegation.
GW36 Captain No. 2: Daniel Sturridge
With 5 goals and 2 assists in his last 6 Premier League games Daniel Sturridge is clearly in great form. The injury to Origi means that Sturridge is more hopeful of starting each Premier League game but there still remain concerns over the pursuit of Champions League football through victory in the Europa League – something that could still mean rotation for the England man.
If you can stomach a risk then an away trip to Swansea who conceded four goals at Leicester last week could prove fruitful should Sturridge start. If he starts, then the chances of a goal in his current form have to be above 80% and that is a figure that no-one can sniff at. If you don’t have our number one pick but you own Sturridge then there are certainly worse options.
GW36 Captain No. 1: Alexis Sanchez
The away trip to Sunderland was the first time that Sanchez has failed to score or assist in the last 8 games and he was the best Arsenal player on the day by a country mile. A home game against Norwich represents a perfect opportunity for the Chilean to return to form and grab a load of FPL points.
The reverse fixture at Carrow Road resulted in a 1-1 draw that saw Sanchez go off injured back in November. He did manage to get an assist in that game but this could be a different affair. Both teams are under pressure and it all depends on Arsenal’s mentality as to how this one will go. If Arsenal get at Norwich early on and manage to score then they must learn from their previous games and push on and convert with ruthlessness that we haven’t seen for a while. If they do this then I agree with what JP said on the podcast that this could be a cricket score and we could see a decent goal haul for Arsenal and possibly Sanchez.
There is not one player at Arsenal who has performed better than Sanchez in the last month or two and if anyone will benefit from this fixture then it will be him. Another Arsenal player that you might want to consider and one that is a bit of a curveball could be Hector Bellerin. He is such an attacking full back that he could easily grab an assist or a goal and I fully expect Arsenal to keep a clean sheet in this game which is as good as a strikers goal. Perhaps something to get you thinking?
