Game Week 4 Captain Picks:
Sponsored by Premier Punt
What a week it has been in Fantasy Premier League and for us here at Fantasyfootballtips.co – no fewer than 3 game week articles, one podcast, 2 subscriber emails and of course our usual captain tips. However, we are possibly saving the best until last this week – so make sure you read to the bottom of this article for a very, very special treat – our first ever Fantasy Premier League Rap. It’s pretty special even if we do say ourselves.
But first, on to the main business of the day – that awkward captain choice, although this may be one of the easier weeks of the season to choose a captain…. But it won’t make the result any easier to swallow if he doesn’t score a couple of goals.
In my articles earlier this week, I mentioned that I think game week 4 will be the return of the big guns, with Chelsea at home to Palace, Man City at home to Watford and Liverpool at home to West Ham, we here at FFT HQ think that there could be some big points scoring this week! But, with 3 good fixtures there, it throws a spanner in the works of the automatic Aguero captain shout – and what if you decided against forking our £13m+ and don’t have him in your team? Where to look then… we will take you through our main contenders.
Sergio Aguero: Man City Vs. Watford
Watford have not had a terrible start to the season claiming 3 draws from their first 3 games. They have not scored in their last two games but neither have they conceded and it is fair to say that they have also come up against nothing like Man City. We have seen these games go both ways in the past, but what should scare Watford more than anything is the blistering form City have shown at the start of this season. Putting 3 goals past Chelsea in their last home game should ring alarm bells and for us it sets our captain alarm in full swing… for us it is simple this week – if you have Aguero in your team he has to be captained. The only exception to this is if you don’t have him… in which case – move heaven and earth to get him in!
If you are looking for differential then David Silva is the selection in this game. He has looked different class so far this season and has been unlucky not to notch up a few more points. Assists and potential goals being the order of the day, game week 4 should prove very fruitful for some of these Man City players – and we think it will be Aguero and Silva tasting success this weekend.
Christian Benteke: Liverpool Vs. West Ham
With one goal in his first three games Benteke is due another goal mathematically speaking, but we don’t deal with algebra or even ratio for that matter on this site – we look at real life performances – and we have been mightily impressed with the performances of the ex-Villa man thus far. He has looked sharp and lively and that is exactly what caused West Ham to be undone at home to Bournemouth last weekend. We are not predicting 4 goals for Liverpool and we are certain West Ham will try and tighten things up in response… BUT… we can see a goal or maybe 2 for the Reds and with Benteke the main man up front – anything is possible. With Aguero – you get the chance for the unthinkable 4 goal rout, with Benteke perhaps not… but should Aguero blank and Benteke score a couple, you could be left kicking youself!
Pedro: Chelsea Vs. Crystal Palace
The third choice this week is Pedro who had a remarkable debut away at WBA. It is hardly long lasting form in the Premier League, but if we look at the start to pre-season he had with Barcelona then it is not hard to see why Mourinho wanted to bring him to Stamford Bridge.
The welcome will be much more welcoming at home playing against a Crystal Palace side that will leave gaps for him to exploit. Diego Costa will probably capitalise on this too, but we fancy a goal and an assist from Pedro again this weekend. Let’s not forget Eden Hazard for a second, but given his price and his form so far this season we prefer to go with his Spanish counterpart over last seasons multi-award winning player.
FPL GW4 Captain Pick Summary:
To summarise the philosophy this week… if you have Aguero you need to captain him. If you don’t have him or you really desperately want the differential then Pedro or Benteke are going to be good second choices.
Now for our treat to you:
If you have been following our podcast you will know that last weekend was Quigliano’s stag do in Barcelona… well… one of the party who shall remain nameless at this stage has created a special rap for FPL… if you do listen to the podcast then some of the names will even make sense to you.
We’d love your thoughts below in the comments and you can also hear it on our YouTube channel.
