Game Week 4 Tips
FPL Game Week 4 Picks
In association with Premier Punt
Now that the abyss of another terribly timed international football window is almost over we can start to look forward to game week 4 in Fantasy Premier League. We have already brought you a podcast (listen here) and a pretty hefty transfer tips article ahead of GW4 but now we are just days away we can get in to the more nitty gritty - and we promise to keep talk of Sergio Aguero to a minimum - that's been covered here.
So where should we be looking to for game week 4 glory and where should our money be going?
There are two places to look this week if cheap defenders are the order of the day and that is at Middlesbrough and West Brom. WBA have been superb defensively so far this season and although they are soon to embark on a tricky run of fixtures an away game at Bournemouth represents another good chance of a clean sheet for the likes of Jonny Evans and Gareth McAuley. Bournemouth have been poor by last season's standards and much better organisation at the back for Tony Pulis' side who have conceded just 2 goal in 3 games and have achieved 2 clean sheets out of 3 looks ominous for the Cherries.
Middlesbrough have secured the services of £4.5m Calum Chambers (who already has one goal to his name this season) and they have looked fairly solid so far this season. A home game against Crystal Palace should be a good opportunity for them to further stake their claims for a mid-table or better season and if Chambers does go straight in to the team then he could be a very good priced player to put in your team. The spoiler alert comes in the form of Benteke and Remy who have both just signed for Palace but it could take them some time to settle in - plus Palace need to get the service in to these two which has been an area they have struggled with so far this season.
A couple of fixtures stand out on the card this week, with one of them being Swansea Vs. Chelsea and the other being Sunderland Vs. Everton - you didn't think we'd say the Manchester Derby did you?
All eyes will be Eden Hazard to see if he can continue his good form and a trip to Swansea might just do the trick with the South Wales side struggling this season so far with the exception of their opening day win over Burnley. Chelsea have been bolstered by big signings and with David Luiz set to return to the Chelsea team they will be looking to push forward from the back - this could be a dangerous game for the Swans and Eden Hazard looks the danger man once again.
Ross Barkley who looks set to be given a new deal by Everton heads to Sunderland to face his old manager and the Toffees player has looked dangerous in the opening 3 games of the season. 1 goal and 1 assist from the opening 3 games is a good return for the £7.7m man and if Sunderland concede first in this game then crowd could turn on them - not an easy job for Moyes and Barkley looks set to benefit from the new arrivals at Goodison and he could be set to extend his good run of form.
Okay so now it's time to talk about the Manchester derby and there is only one forward in this game who consistently performs in the limelight and that is Zlatan Ibrahimovic. It is likely to be a cagey game if Mourinho's past top 4 fixtures are anything to go by, but City look a lot more suspect at the back than United and with home advantage to the Red's it could be their day. Don't expect goals galore from the Swede but a goal or maybe two is perfectly possible and he represents the best option this weekend.
Elsewhere, it will be interesting to see who plays up front for Leicester but a combination of Slimani and Vardy is one that appeals and up against a Liverpool side that has been very inconsistent so far this could be an interesting game. If Slimani is ready to go straight in to the team then a debut goal is not out of the question but the £29m record signing is probably best watched for now.
We will back later this week with our gameweek 4 captain tips so check back for that - in the meantime, if you love what we do, we'd love it if you could vote for us in the Football Blog Awards in the Best Gaming Football Blog category - you can find out how here.
