Fantasy Premier League Game Week 4 Tips
Sponsored by Premier Punt
Following another frustrating week for some and rewarding week for many, game week 4 will complete the month of August and as such will be crucial for those FPL managers playing in leagues that feature manager of the month prizes. Thankfully for those managers who have opted for many of the big guns in their teams, game week 4 boasts plenty of opportunities for some of the ‘bigger’ teams to flex their muscles in very winnable home games.
Chelsea face a Crystal Palace team who are yet to keep a clean sheet and will be glad to be playing at Stamford Bridge after a tough away assignment at WBA. Liverpool also had a tough away game in GW3 but fought out a solid 0-0 draw at Arsenal who were lucky not to be 2 or 3 goals behind at the break. The Merseyside team take on West Ham at Anfield just a week after The Hammers conceded 4 goals to newly promoted Bournemouth.
The real eye opener has to be at The Etihad where early pace setters Manchester City take on Watford in a home game that will have the likes of Sergio Aguero, David Silva, Yaya Toure et al. licking their lips at the prospect of a few goals. So let’s take a look at our top picks for game week 4.
Game Week 4 Top Picks:
Man City Vs. Watford
This is what we have been waiting for and there may well be a few managers opting for triple captain chips in this game – we won’t be going that far and we don’t advise you do it either BUT this is a game that shows the sort of potential that will make us opt for Aguero as captain. If you don’t have Aguero in your team then you probably need your head read as the captain potential in these games is massive. We have been advising you for weeks now to make sure you have a plan to get Aguero in for this game so as you can imagine he is our tip.
We are also tipping Kolarov and David Silva as the other players to perform well in this game. Kolarov has looked solid and looks set to continue to hold down his starting place. He scored last weekend which will cause more managers to transfer him in, but at just £5.7m he is very good option if you have room to make the transfer – a 4th clean sheet in a row is also highly likely here and we expect Man City to win by a healthy goal tally to nil this week to make it 4 wins from 4.
David Silva has been the class act in midfield and should have at least 5 more FPL points than he currently has (given the Toure goal that was later confirmed as Silva’s) and we expect him to be pulling the strings again this week. Assists are the order of the day here and with the pace on the flanks that Man City now possess, Silva has the space to expose a defence that lacks Premier League experience.
Liverpool Vs. West Ham
Liverpool have only scored 2 goals so far this season, but that has been enough to give them 7 points from a possible 9 and they look to have a real good balance to the side. Christian Benteke should have scored against Arsenal and Coutinho was only denied a spectacular goal by the fingertips of Petr Cech who pushed his curling effort on to the post in a dominant first half performance by the visitors.
If Liverpool can be more ruthless in front of goal then they can put a few past West Ham who already find themselves under pressure despite their opening day win over Arsenal. Bilic’s men have conceded 6 goals in their last two game (both of which were at home) and now travel to Anfield to face a Liverpool team full of confidence. Our top FPL tips for this game are Benteke, Coutinho and Gomez. 19 year old Gomez has impressed in all three of his outings this season and he can still be snapped up for just £4.7m but that price is set to rise so act fast whilst you can get him at that price.
Benteke is just the sort of player that can cause West Ham all sorts of problems and his movement and aerial prowess can wreak havoc in a defence that has to be lacking in confidence. Benteke won all but one of his aerial duels in the Arsenal game and he will get a lot more service in this game. We fancy a couple of goals for him here. The supplier of those goals could be Coutinho and the Brazilian has really caught the eye so far this season.
We will be back tomorrow to preview the Chelsea game as well as another game that we think could have massive potential for points from a £5.5m player! One word on Pedro – if you are thinking of buying him in and are asking the question:
When will Pedro’s price rise in FPL?
Don’t panic, Pedro’s price in locked until Saturday so you have plenty of time and could even wait until GW5 if you wanted to. So, check back tomorrow as we continue to look ahead to gameweek 4 and we will of course be back on Friday with our GW4 Captain Picks. Keep an eye out for our podcast that should be out by Thursday afternoon.
