Game Week 6 Tips
Game Week 6 Picks - Our First Thoughts
In association with Premier Punt
Last week was a kind one for managers backing the big boys and with Etienne Capoue scoring his fourth goal in 5 games there is an air of predictability creeping in to the season. With that being said, Man Utd and Chelsea both suffered defeats in slightly differing circumstances ahead of a game week 6 that sees the return of Sergio Aguero.
The question of whether you should put Aguero back in your FPL side is one that has a very simple answer – YES. If you have Ibrahimovic in your side then you may be tempting to ditch the Swede in favour of a cheaper striker that is in equally good form (there are plenty to choose from) but don’t for one second think that Ibrahimovic is a suitable alternative to Aguero.
Man City look like the class act in the league right now and whilst there may be a bubble bursting at some point this season for them, their form at the moment is insatiable. 13 goals in their last 4 Premier League games (2 of those without the Argentine star) is frightening for the opposition and they head to Swansea this week where we expect to see more of the same. Aguero is going to be a serious captain contender for game week 6!
Liverpool Vs. Hull
Were Chelsea terrible last Friday against Liverpool or were the Reds just sublime in their first half performance? Whichever way you look at it, it was hard not to be impressed by Jurgen Klopp’s side and a home game against Hull City will provide plenty of promise for the Merseyside team.
Don’t expect to see too many more Jordan Henderson screamers and it is probably best to avoid the attackers (as Klopp doesn’t seem entirely convinced on Daniel Sturridge) but there are a number of top attacking midfielders to choose from.
Roberto Firmino disappointed many last week when dropped due to injury but Coutinho and particularly Mane look very threatening. If you can’t quite stretch to their prices then Adam Lallana is a decent differential option with just 9.2% ownership.
The Premier League may well have caught up with Hull City last week who were well beaten by Arsenal and a similar scoreline could be on the cards at Anfield if Liverpool are in a similar mood to when beating Chelsea last week.
Bournemouth Vs. Everton
Everton look much improved under Ronald Koeman compared to the back end of last season under a weary Martinez and they take the long trip to the south coast in game week 6 as they look to continue their strong run of form. Ross Barkley responded to his half time substitution at Sunderland with a majestic performance against Middlesbrough and Bolasie also impressed again. Romelu Lukaku managed a goal before hobbling off and suddenly those three players look like they could have an impact in any match.
Bournemouth were easily dispatched by Man City last week and this will be a slightly easier test – but only slightly! If they are anything other than their best in this one then Everton could be looking at extending their powerful start to the season. Lukaku is starting to put himself in to the ‘must have’ category of player with 4 goals in 2 games and if that form continues and Everton continue in this vein then expect to see some pretty swift price rises for their very affordable players.
Stoke Vs. West Brom
Nacer Chadli was a beast against West Ham last weekend when he scored two and assisted two goals. A dominant 4-2 victory for the Baggies was unexpected and what a time to visit Stoke who are in the midst of their worst ever start to a Premier League season in terms of goals conceded! Mark Hughes’ side shipped another 4 goals at Crystal Palace in GW5 and GW6 promises to be no easy ride with Tony Pulis’ new look West Brom side looking to kick them whilst they are down.
In addition to the any West Brom defender and Ben Foster, the only player that you should be considering is Chadli based on last week’s performance. The ex-Spurs player has a point to prove for the Black Country side after being very much on the periphery at White Hart Lane and fair play to the lad for taking on a challenge such as this – a very decent pick for gameweek 6.
Arsenal Vs. Chelsea
This is a game that promises to be explosive. Arsenal look to have found the right gear whilst Chelsea were made to look distinctly average by Liverpool last week. Alexis Sanchez is the key man in this fixture and he looks to be enjoying himself with the freedom he has upfront. Both of these sides have tricky League Cup fixtures to come through on Tuesday but they both have the squads to cope – expect goals in this game with both of these teams finding it hard to keep clean sheets. Sanchez and Costa are likely to be the order of the day with side helpings of Iwobi and Cazorla as nice differentials.
