Game Week 8 First Thoughts – Part Two
Game Week 8 Tips – Part Two
In association with Premier Punt
In part one of our game week 8 preview we looked at 3 fixtures with top potential for points getting for FPL managers. In this part of the article we are going to focus on two other fixtures that are likely to bring some good returns for managers.
First though, a word on Leicester’s trip to Stamford Bridge. This is likely to be a tough game for Chelsea who have stuttered over the last few weeks. Diego Costa could be up against it against a decent Leicester defence and he will also have in the back of his mind the impending suspension when he picks up his next yellow card – something that could potentially mean he will not be his usual aggressive self in this game – which would massively impact on his performance.
This game looks like a low scoring game and defenders might be the highest scoring players in this fixture.
That was a cheeky little bonus there… let’s get in to the real stuff now.
Man City Vs. Everton
Man City had a tough week in GW8 with their first defeat of the season at White Hart Lane. A tough game against Celtic was also a blow to their 100% record under Pep Guardiola and the visit of Everton will not be a simple affair either. Without Kevin De Bruyne it is fair to say that Man City don’t have the same creative spark and with Raheem Sterling also a possible absentee due to injury (at the time of writing – this could change of course) then City might have to mix things up more than they would like. Of course, the players stepping in are quality but we might not see the freeflowing football that we have seen in earlier games this season.
Everton may be without Lukaku but if he is fit to play then he has just as much chance of continuing his fine goal scoring start to the season. City have been pretty poor defensively under Pep and with Claudio the Clown conceding another 3 goals in midweek for Chile, he too could be feeling plenty of pressure.
West Brom Vs. Spurs
This is an interesting fixture with both sides in good form. Spurs looked very very good against Man City last week and the form of Son continues to blow people away. It is the player that Spurs let go to the Baggies that will cause them most problems as Chadli looks to remind his old club why he should have had more regular game time.
Spurs have enough to go to the Hawthornes and win and it will need to be a monumental collapse from them or an excellent WBA performance to prevent anything other than 3 points to the North London side.
There is only player you need to be on in this game and it is of course Heung-Min Son. At just £7.6m he now has 4 goals and 2 assists in his last 4 games – and they are his only appearances so far this season. It would be a brave man to leave him out and with the fixtures looking favourable for Spurs over the next few weeks he is potentially a must have player.
