FPL Gameweek 27 Tips

Our fantasy football tips for gameweek 27 are finally here following a whole host of midweek European action where the Premier League was put to the test by Barcelona and Monaco and although the Premier League big boys were beaten down, we still love our league and cannot wait for normal service to resume on Saturday.

Gameweek 26 brought with it big points hauls for many players just like we predicted last week. Aguero did not fail to deliver despite only playing 59 minutes of the match and if you had captained David Silva then you really did hit the jackpot.

Unlike the more predictable outcomes last week, gameweek 27 captain choices will be harder to pick, as will your usual starting 11. The fixtures are not so kind to the top teams this week (with the exception of Manchester United - but let’s not get started on them yet) and with the added headache of a blank gameweek for Chelsea, Spurs, QPR and Leicester – the end of February looks set to be a real dilemma for some.

They payoff for the blank is a double gameweek 28 for QPR and Spurs so it may not be time to ditch Kane and co just yet – but I would be thinking twice about keeping some of Chelsea’s costly players as their extra game does not come in to play until gameweek 34! Qpr face a tough double gameweek with games against Arsenal and Spurs in GW28 so Charlie Austin might be another doubt player to chop for some.

If you want to look into the double gameweek dilemma further and how to tackle it then make sure you listen to our podcast which can be found in the sidebar or just here.

Top Gameweek 27 Tips:

As I said, this is a very tricky week but there are still some potential top picks for the week. This is where I would be looking…

Scott Sinclair – Newcastle Vs. Aston Villa £5.3m

We tipped Sinclair last week and he delivered with a goal. Villa face Newcastle who shipped 5 away to Man City last week and looked absolutely clueless. Villa looked much improved in the first half against Stoke last week before returning to old habits, but with another week of Tim Sherwood at the helm they should show a little more steel here and I expect a big Villa performance. If they do get a goal or two then expect Sinclair to be involved somewhere.

West Brom Vs. Southampton – Defenders

This one looks destined to be a low scoring affair with Southampton not looking particularly dangerous last week and West Brom being involved in a match that saw just 3 chances created in 90 minutes! If you are looking for a bargain basement defender then look no further than Yoshida who has started the last 4 games and is just £4.3m. A good swap out for a pricey Cheslea defender perhaps?

Danny Welbeck – Arsenal Vs. Everton

This game usually brings goals with it. The two teams entertained the crowds to a 2-2 draw back at Goodison in August although it is Arsenal who have really kicked on since then. They disappointed in the week against Monaco and will be looking to put things right with a win here. Danny Welbeck impressed last week against Crystal Palace with two assists and will be looking to expose a shaky Everton rear guard who shipped 2 against Leicester last week.

Welbeck is still a sub £7m FPL striker and that cannot be sniffed at. Giroud is dangerous too but will cost significantly more so I would be plumping for Welbeck in a team with plenty to play for in the Premier League.

Gameweek 27 Captain Pick:

Alexis Sanchez is my top captain choice for gameweek 27. He has been a little quieter of late but has been bubbling away nicely and is due a good week. The other option is Santi Cazorla who has had a brilliant 2015 so far and shows no signs of stopping. However, I will be taking my chances with Sanchez this week given that he is facing the shaky Everton defence and that he is due a big return.

Whatever you do this week, good luck and drop us a comment with what your own plans are…
