Gameweek 29 Tips
Fantasy Premier League Gameweek 29 Tips
It’s been a busy week and a bit in the world of fantasy football but we are back with our gameweek 29 tips for you to mull over prior to the weekend’s games. Those of you who went captain Kane in gameweek 28 were well rewarded with a return of 30 points – if you were following Ageruo… well… this is another week. If you are trailing behind your fantasy league standings take some inspiration from Schalke’s performance against Real Madrid this week when they almost completed a magnificent turnaround of the 2-0 1st leg deficit. Although they didn’t quite make it, they came mighty close and give hope to all of us who are chasing a lead. As we enter the last ten game weeks of the season we will see many managers start to give up, but you are here… so you are amongst those steely managers who have what it takes to make it to the end. Let’s take a look at our top early tips for gameweek 29…
Gameweek 29 Defender Tips:
There are two key teams to look at for the remainder of the season in terms of defenders and they are Liverpool and Chelsea. 6 out of Liverpool’s last 8 Premier League games have seen them keep clean sheets and they take on a Swansea side this week who are struggling for goals so there is a very good chance that the tally could move to 7 in 9 games.
Alberto Moreno - £5.2m
Moreno has become a mainstay in the Liverpool side and plays a progressive role in wingback his familiar wingback position. He is Liverpool’s second top defensive points scorer and for that reason alone commands some serious respect. Valued at just £5.2m he represents good value over Skrtel who is a minor doubt for gameweek 29.
Kurt Zouma - £4.7m
If we turn our attention to Chelsea, who have the meanest defence in the league, it is again a good idea to look for the value as they rightly have some of the most expensive defenders. Kurt Zouma who has started the last 3 games for the Blues, securing 2 clean sheets and 3 bonus points in that time, is the player who represents fantastic value. Of course, you will be left wondering whether he will get his starting place, but his recent performances and consistent selection help to alleviate those concerns so we are fancying the punt at £4.7m. If you had a player like Wisdom at WBA who is now not playing, he would be a very strong replacement.
Gameweek 29 Midfielder Tips:
Man City face a tough trip to Burnely this week ahead of their trip to Barcelona and for this reason it may be worth looking away from the current Premier League Champions who hardly looked in scintillating form at home to Leicester last time out. Chelsea will take on a solid Southampton team following a tough Champions League game against PSG and we don’t predict lots of goals in this encounter. We will be turning our attention back to Liverpool and Arsenal for this week’s hopes in midfield. Arsenal boast a plethora of talent in midfield and you could take your pick from Ozil, Sanchez, Cazorla and Oxlade Chamberlain who was sensational against Manchester United, but we will be focusing on Coutinho at Liverpool who has been in inspired form for Liverpool of later, accumulating 24 points in the last 3 games!
Phillipe Coutinho - £7.9m
Another bargain priced midfielder who is playing well for the in form Liverpool team who finally seem to have clicked for Rodgers this term. His manager has said that he has the potential to be world class and he has showed glimpses of this in recent weeks. View image | gettyimages.com They take on a Swansea side who have not been quite the same since the departure of Bony and this will be a good opportunity for Coutinho to add more points to his seasons tally.
Gameweek 29 Striker Tips:
Wayne Rooney at Manchester United has becomea serious prospect again with 3 goals in his last 4 games since rejoining the United frontline, however his Columbian teammate Falcao saw himself relegated to the Under 21’s this week and looks set to sit out the game again. Although Manchester United seem to have shown some improvement in their playing style (if not their results) recently, they take on a Spurs side with a very good goalkeeper in Hugo Lloris. He produced a fine display in December to shut out what was an impressive performance from United that day and for this reason we will be staying away from Man Utd this week. Chelsea and Man City will not be in our main plans either for the reasons already discussed.
Charlie Austin - £6.3m
The QPR frontman did everything but score in his second game of GW28, but showed his class in the Arsenal game with a goal. QPR take on Crystal Palace this week in what is a must win game for them. Expect to see QPR search for goals in this game and if they do the reasonably priced striker should be amongst the goals.
Olivier Giroud - £8.3m
Arsenal take on a West Ham team who have looked in recent games like they have absolutely nothing left to play for this season. Arsenal are hungry for second spot in the league and will be motivated following their FA Cup triumph on Monday. The only down side is that they face Monaco in the Champions League but they will want to go in to that game on a roll. On top of this, Giroud was rested in the FA Cup so he should be due a starting place here. Expect goals in this game.
We will be back later this week with our captain tips for gameweek 29 – until then, let us know your thoughts below.
