Gameweek 31 – Will the Gunners start to misfire?
Will the Red Hot Gunners start to mis-fire?
Is it time to ditch your Arsenal players?
Arsenal have been one of the in form teams in recent weeks with 9 wins from their last 10 games. Many Fantasy Premier League managers have benefited from this turnaround in fortunes for the North London team – particularly those managers with the likes of Olivier Giroud who has averaged 8.8 points per game in the last 5 matches.
As Arsene Wenger sets his team the target of second place in the EPL and as we head in to the final phase of the FPL season the big question we are asking this week is:
Is it time to sell Giroud and the other Arsenal stars?
At first glance, this seems a silly question! On the face of it, if we look at gameweek 31 Arsenal have a tough game at home to Liverpool – but that shouldn’t phase us too much as this could quite easily be an open and entertaining game. Check out our gameweek 31 tips here.
In gameweek 32, Arsenal travel to Burnley who have proved troublesome for some of the big teams this season, taking points off Chelsea, Man City and Southampton earlier in the campaign.
Again, this is something we can deal with. Arsenal fared well against Burnley with a solid 3-0 win when they met at The Emirates in November – although at Turf Moor it would be a different game altogether.
However – gameweek 33 (only 2 weeks away) provides us with a major headache! No games for Arsenal in gameweek 33 is a major concern – particularly if you jumped on the form bandwagon and filled your team with 3 Gunners. Let’s compound these concerns one step further by looking at gameweek 34 where we see Arsenal take on Chelsea who will have little else to play for but the league.
Arsenal’s remaining 3 fixtures look somewhat more promising, however we have seen them falter towards the end of the season before and it could be that we see history repeat again.
For me, I would be keeping the number one form player in Olivier Giroud, however if you have been holding on the likes of Sanchez and Ozil it is probably time to say your fond farewells to them.
Anything more than one Arsenal player in gameweek 33 and 34 would be scandalous – and 3 players would be seen as capitulation to the rest of the managers in your league. Get a head start over your rivals and make sure you are planning your transfers now – you don’t want to be taking the minus points at this stage of the season.
