Gameweek 35 Captain Picks – Fantasy Premier League

The month of May starts for FPL managers this weekend and most of us will be starting the bank holiday by trying to figure out the conundrum of who to captain for gameweek 35. With the final four game weeks taking place in May, the difficult captain pick is as crucial as ever in GW35.

We assess who to captain and who not to captain in Fantasy Premier League this week – so don’t go anywhere…

Sergio Aguero – Spurs Vs. Man City

This might be another week to give the City star a rest from captaincy. Although he did score in GW34 against Villa, he was pretty fortunate to do so with the Guzan howler and although Spurs have not looked completely solid at the back this season, Man City’s away form has been dire of late and I do not expect much of a showing from either side here. It could be that both sides try and outgun each other but I think the opposite will be the case.

Christian Benteke – Aston Villa Vs. Everton

Everton laid down a marker last week with a very good win over Manchester United, but their inconsistency has cost them dearly this term and with Aston Villa being pulled into a relegation dog fight following good Hull performances in the last 2 games they will have plenty of hunger and desire to win this game.

Christian Benteke has scored 8 goals in his last 7 games, a stat that has seen him accumulate a lot of FPL points in a very short space of time and although Everton looked solid last week, Tim Sherwood will be looking to exploit any Everton complacency with an attacking performance from his Villa lads. Benteke is a good differential shout for GW35.

Eden Hazard – Chelsea Vs. Crystal Palace

It is hard to look past this match as far as Gameweek 35 tips are concerned, however it may not be as straight forward as you might think. There will be a carnival atmosphere at The Bridge this weekend, but Mourinho has already called for focus and a need to get the job done. We know how he likes to get the job done, although the boys in blue looked very impressive in the second half against Leicester and Palace seem to have lost their way a bit in the last couple of games.

It is impossible to gamble on Diego Costa, Remy or Drogba, so the player of the season for Chelsea is the obvious pick – just don’t go banking on a big scoreline here.

Olivier Giroud – Hull City Vs. Arsenal

Hull have enjoyed a mini-revival with 6 points from 2 games in GW35 – however, those wins will have expended a lot of energy and Arsenal are a team who can punish their opponents with their sublime passing game. Giroud could well get back to scoring ways this week and will be the lone target man with plenty of attacking support around him. Arsenal will be looking for a big win here to really set a claim for the second spot in the league. Giroud is our main man for captain this week.

The Alternative GW35 Captain Picks:

Jamie Vardy – A goal and an assist in GW34 and the good form continues – Leicester take on Newcastle this week who have been leaking goals and this one has a Leicester win written all over it. The importance of Vardy to Leicester was underlined in the Chelsea game when he played with a painkilling injection in his foot.

John Terry – The Chelsea captain will be looking to lead his team to the Premier League title against Palace and the first objective will be to keep a clean sheet. A win to nil will be a very good bet for Chelsea this week and he also has goal potential as we saw against Leicester.
