FPL Gameweek 36 Captain Picks

The captain choice for gameweek 36 is going to be a tough decision for many Fantasy Premier League managers this week with most likely to opt for Sergio Aguero at home to QPR. Much will depend on your league position and what your priorities are for the remaining three games. Only 27% of managers own Aguero compared to 50% earlier in the season, but don’t rest too easy as most of the top managers have him and will certainly want him for a home game with such huge goal scoring potential.

Are you a chaser or are the others snapping at your heels?

If you are happy with your league position then it makes sense to captain Sergio Aguero this week. However, if you are chasing down a closeable gap above you then you may want to take a gamble and look elsewhere. The odds are in the favour of those siding with Aguero, but a risk may reap dividends should he not score so let’s take a look at the alternatives…

Christian Benteke – Number One Captain Choice (alternative)

Let’s be absolutely clear here, Aguero is our number one captain pick for GW36, however, if we are looking at alternatives then our top captain choice would be Christian Benteke. Another two goals last week has seen his stock rise further and I have already discussed this week in my gameweek 36 tips article as to why I think Villa will be beat West Ham comfortably – he should be on the scoresheet but will he outscore Aguero? Unlikely, but stranger things have happened!

Romelu Lukaku – Our second choice captain (alternative)

One of the seasons underperformers at a team that has underperformed this term is Romelu Lukaku, but his Everton side take on a Sunderland side who have a tendency to leak silly goals when they go behind and Lukaku’s performance was better against Villa last week and sealed it with a goal. If Everton take a lead in this game which I think they will then Lukaku could find himself on the scoresheet again, perhaps more than once. He is the type of player that could run rings around the Sunderland defence and it all depends on who nets first.

Short and sweet this week in terms of the captain tips for gameweek 36, but we would love to hear your thoughts. Who are you going to captain this week? Let us know your thoughts below and don’t forget to check out this week’s podcast here.
