Gameweek 37 and 38 Transfer Tips
Top Player Picks for the last two weeks:
As we start to draw the curtain on the Premier League campaign of 2014/15 we find ourselves with two vital weeks to claim as many points as possible and to perhaps steal a few more places in our respective mini-leagues and of course the overall standings in Fantasy Premier League. With gameweek 37 being a double gameweek for Arsenal and Sunderland, many FPL managers will not be thinking about GW38 but it could pay to give a few moments thought to the final game week of the season when planning your team this week.
We will take a look at the 3 good options for gameweek 37 and 38 combined. To do this, I am going to make a few assumptions:
- That we have around £24 million to spend (2 decent players and a low value one)
- That you have 2 free transfers and we will take a -4 points hit
Now it may well be of course that you already have these players in your teams so if that is the case you may not need the -4 – happy days!
The teams we are looking at for gameweek 37 and 38:
Arsenal are of course the top pick with 2 games in GW37 followed by a home game against West Brom on the final day of the season – find out who we are picking as captain in our gameweek 37 captain picks article.
Sunderland will attract a few managers given the GW37 game time but with a tough away assignment to Chelsea in gameweek 38 we cannot see them as a feasible option for the purposes of the two weeks.
The team with the best form and best fixtures has to be Leicester as they face Sunderland away in GW37 followed by a home game against QPR on the final day. We will assess the top options for their players shortly.
The final team that we have to pick out are Chelsea. Having blown all of the other teams out of the water this season with their ability to grind out results and play mesmerizing football (at times) should be enough to make us need their players for the final two game weeks – but given that those matches are against West Brom and Sunderland… well it just makes sense.
Our 3 picks for Gameweek 37 and 38:
Branislav Ivanovic £7.7m
It may seem strange to side with a defender but I have a feeling that West Brom will shut up shop this weekend, but I expect Chelsea to get the clean sheet in both the final two games. That would give a return of 12 points minimum, and that is before bonus points, assists and goals – three areas where Ivanovic has excelled this season. A good solid proposition as we head in to the final games.
Alexis Sanchez £11.5m
If you are going to have only one Arsenal player for the last two games (which of course you aren’t) then it has to be Alexis. He is the third highest points scorer in Fantasy Premier League this season and could still outperform Aguero given the extra game he has! With Man Utd (a) and more importantly Sunderland (h) and West Brom (h) to play there could be plenty of chances for the former Barcelona man to add to his already impressive tally. Do not go in to the final two games without this guy!
Leonardo Ulloa - £5m
With Nugent injured for gameweek 37 and probably out for the final game too it is worth a punt on the impressive Ulloa who has returned to form of late having been given a little more game time. It is likely that Leicester will continue to try and outscore their opponents in the last two games and assists and goals could come either Ulloa’s or Vardy’s way – we prefer Ulloa as he has proven himself more over the season. With games against Sunderland and hapless QPR we fancy our chances for at least 12 points here.
Total Price = £24.2m
